I gave my property a rest til next week. Hot weather moved in, deer have only been moving through at night and very early morning on cams. I'll be hitting it hard again when it's back in the 40s

Too hot here this weekend as well. Yesterday and today both over 80. Hopefully, hitting it again next week.

Did about 9 miles of scouting this weekend getting ready for opener in my home state next Monday, lots of good deer on cameras but i'm still after my big guy. I ended up getting smoked by a tick so i'm monitoring that while taking some precautionary pills. hopefully nothing comes of it. make sure to check real good!! seems like things are picking up in the woods. lots of rubs and scrapes popping up everywhere, seems like a good year for oaks and theyre on them heavy.

Treat your clothes with Sawyer's Permethrin at least a couple hours before heading into the woods and let it dry before putting the clothes on. It will kill the ticks quickly, before they have a chance to bite. I typically soak the entirety of my pants, including the insides of the waist and seat. I also coat my gloves and hat. My under shirt just the openings for head, arms, and waist. Any upper outer layer gets soaked completely.

I lost out on a lot of September and October hunting last year because of Lyme that resulted from a tick bite I got bear hunting and didn’t find in time - it’s no joke. I take extra time now at the end of each day and always use Sawyers.

I'll try to get out Friday-Sunday if possible. Cold front hitting Thursday night. Should be a good weekend.

We are headed out from SD back to VT in the morning after a killer time out here. Can’t wait to get back next year. Once home I’ll be with the kids and wife for a bit after being gone 13 days before I can sneak back out there to try and punch another tag or two. Have an antlerless 4 day muzzy hunt coming up in 10/11 days and Youth Weekend before the end of the month back home that’ll keep the Mathews on the shelf but then I’ll be back into it.
