South Dakota - 2 week Public Land Archery Hunt, two of us have punched our tags and trying to fill two more before we headed back to VT Thursday.
Dull blades are more likely to tear soft tissue instead of slicing through it and they can drag that soft tissue along and plug the exit wound. A dull broad head will definitely kill a deer, but a razor sharp broad head will kill the deer and will almost always provide a much better blood trail.
Ever accidentally cut yourself with a razor sharp blade or nicked yourself with a razor blade? It takes forever to get the bleeding to stop. A dull knife is more dangerous only because it takes more pressure to cut something and if the knife slips using the greater pressure you can seriously injure yourself or someone else.

Also a sharp cut is easier to seal up. Deer don't have the ability to stop the bleeding like we do. Also a dull broadhead is more a puncture then a cut. Any arrow thru lungs and heart is a dead deer, but they are looking for more blood for tracking purpose. A sharp broadhead will out preform a dull one every time. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I am going to let a dull broad head go, going with an arrow and draw weight up to specs to kill a water buffalo as the Rock said "It doesn't matter"

If you take a broad head to the ribs would you feel better that your chances for survival are better with a dull blade?
On a different note, I'm heading to my hunting spot shortly. Only my second sit so far, but I have a perfect SW wind with a cloudy 70F. I like the clouds when I'm hunting!

Sota I'm not saying your wrong, this is just what I believe in and have seen thru my life of bowhunting. You do what you need to do. And back to the thread. I'm heading out in a few to look for another doe or buck. Going to speed scout and if I don't find what I'm looking for, I'm going to the spot I took my daughter the other night. Only pictures you have posted are of your feet, where's the pics of the other two filled tag kills? LFTS etiquette must be followed by all....
One thing I remember reading on it several years back is that a sharp broadhead will slice arteries as it passes, even if just on the edge. Whereas a duller broadhead can actually just push the artery aside without severing it creating a less likely chance the deer bleeds out quickly.
