Just ordered one of these. Great price at $100 with an antenna, compared to others in the $300-400 range. The reviews are solid. Does anyone have any experience with them? I have owned a Moultrie cell cam for about a year and have had marginal results. Signal gets lost and never picks back up in low signal areas. I am hoping the antenna on the Tactacam amplifies the signal enough to keep a consistent connection.
Great camera for $100! I have yet to change the batteries and I’ve had it put for over two months. Not incredible quality of pics but it gets the job done. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Looks great for transmitted pictures. What is the monthly cost for unlimited and can it send videos? I will need two new ones at the end of the year. My Spartan 3g will stop working as everyone drops 3g. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Thanks, I guess I will stick with Spartan gocams. I pay 8 dollars a month for unlimited with video. I don't always do the videos but when I see something strange or exciting I request video and get a 10 sec video. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Yeah there’s no way to request a video on these cams or an HD picture. They are nowhere near as comparable to a Spartan, they just cost 1/3 of the price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
These are great cams for the money, 2000 pics on a new set of alkaline batteries, 3000 using lithium batteries, real-time pics is what I like the best without using much juice. My 6 cameras are Verizon based and I couldn't be happier, now do I see them lasting over 3 years, not sure about that but maybe my Spypoints won't either but again for the money they are tough to beat!
Yes, I guess in 4 to 5 years the cost will be even. But in those 4 to 5 years you could have had hd photos and videos. I don't mind paying more up front, it's the same in the long run. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
That's a good photo. I can see it's a red glow camera. I only use black flash. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I live an hour away from my hunting property. I was getting pics of deer daily for a week and a few of nothing, maybe wind blowing something...for the last 6 days I have not gotten a single pic at all...almost like the camera is turned off...all the settings show strong signal, good battery life...I guess it's possible that absolutely nothing has triggered it, but I would have though with the amount of traffic I was getting daily that Id still get at least one pic a day...if not, at least a branch moving...Is there anyway to check from home if the camera is even on? or anything
Your camera is fine, I have 6 in 5 counties and they have been quiet too. Wind has really kept our animals tucked in but it will pick up as soon as it shut down. Those are quite the camera for the money! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
You can check and see if it is updating each day. Go to that camera and hit the three dots and it will tell you the day and time of the last update. They should do it every 24 hours.
does the camera update every 24 hrs? I see it says every day. But I am not sure if it's at the same time each day. I had one that updated on the 29th at 8:01 am ...but hasn't updated since...the other one updated this morning at 1 am
On the Spartan it will update everyday. I set all 5 of mine to update twice a day and send a picture twice a day regardless of activity. It automatically updates any new firmware when it updates. I can change settings each update also if I want. The update also gives signal and battery strength. I had signal problems when I had Covert cell cams with att. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Mine update every day at the same time. There are times that it might miss a day for whatever reason. Overall I'm happy with my cameras (I have 4 out) but they do seem to have some quirks. On Facebook there is a Tactacam Tips page or something like that and there was a good explanation of how the PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor works and why it won't necessarily take pictures sometimes. I have one on the same trail as my treestand and I typically approach my stand head on walking right towards the camera in a straight line until about 30 feet away and then I climb up and it doesn't get me on camera. I also get quite a few blank pictures but they do take lots of deer pics and send them to me so I'm not unhappy. If your camera doesn't update for 4 or 5 days I would go check on it.
Fyi. Lots of cameras have issues when something approaches directly from the front of the camera. Don't think bad of the camera because of that. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I checked the camera today. nothing wrong, just simply no deer movement at all. changed feeding patterns
