Alright fellas, I scheduled Friday and Monday off. I know it isn't exactly the "best time" of the season, but with my job situation, I have to take time sooner than later at this point. I may not have time to take of in late Oct/Mid November. Planning to hunt the new farm and of course that is a sticky situation now. The owner is my buddies' father in law, Frank. Frank was just diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer, so I haven't pressed about coming out. Apparently I'm still a go though, so I'm planning to hunt there Friday for an evening hunt. Sad situation that sort of takes the fun out of having new ground and these folks are such good people that I hate what they are going through. Screw Cancer.

Plan to get out and check a couple cameras this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon to come up with a plan for the next week or so. Weather looks fantastic - just not sure how I want to play things yet. Hopefully the cameras give me a little something to go off.

I am just not a super big fan of hunting mornings in early October - never had much luck with that. BUT temps in the low to mid 40's how can you not be in the stand for a morning sit??

I am probably going to hunt Thursday afternoon, Friday morning and Saturday morning... Just need to decide what property and where at this point!

    LETS GOOOOOO

Well, it looks like Wednesday and Friday mornings are a strong possibility. Maybe an evening or 2 mixed in there as well, just not sure which ones. Good luck to you all!!!!!

I don't have any shooters on camera yet which is weird. My corn is still green so likelihood of it coming down before gun in nov is low. Like I posted I do have a Cull buck that might help but if I don't see him I don't have a plan to take a buck this year. I usually don't get bucks that I have zero history with come on to me. But you never know!

Alright fellas, headed back to the their bedroom tomorrow. I have one more buck tag and 4 doe tags. Still going to be after the bigger 8 and good sized doe. Temps all weekend were mid 70s to high 70s and humid. Rain all day today and the temps are dropping. I will be hunting next three days before heading back to work.

I’ll definitely be more picky on a buck with only one tag left the rest of the year but if this guy or one of the other good 8s show up I’ll let it fly. What’s everyone else’s hunting plans?

I may not have time to get in to hunt this evening. As far as I know, I am cleared hot for the new farm Friday. I think the wind is going to be good for the primary spot I scouted both on ground and with ONX. You guys know about as much as I do for what to expect. To my knowledge I am the only person hunting it or the surrounding properties until gun season. About my only expectation is I will see deer. It has beans on it, so it's a fair bet they are hitting that in the evenings. Lots of elevation changes, edges, transitions and the owner even bushhogs paths through most of the property once or twice a year. Gonna be like Christmas.

Pancreatic cancer is all to well known to me. My mom died of it June 9th. It had spread to her abdomen and colon when it was found. She lived 6 months 10 days. The only good thing was she was not in pain other then when 1st diagnosed. Tell your buddy I'm think if his family. It really is a horrible disease.

I think this weekend I'll be busy with the wife, but tomorrow morning, Friday morning and maybe one or 2 of the evenings. I'm going back in after Mr 6 again. He's still showing up and I'm hoping with the big temperature drop he'll be there in daylight. Super 8 has also been showing up real regular there. I'm kinda wanting to give him a pass this year, but I'm not a true trophy hunter and if he shows up, he might be taking a dirt nap.
