Any SC deer hunters out there? What is the rut activity looking like in your area? I've been out of town in NC for work for a few weeks (missing the best part of the season). Curious if the deer are still chasing for the most part or have began lockdown or what.... Planning on getting back in the stand this weekend. Thanks, and good luck to y'all!
I rattled a young 8 in on 10/27. Had multiple bucks chasing a group of 5 does all evening in a bean field on 11/10.
Georgetown county only about 1.5 miles from Williamsburg county (Rhems). Just moved here this past May. Still learning my property, my buddy owns thousands of acres around me. My yard is a major travel corridor, I have around 76 acres that is wooded with a huge bedding area. The new Williamsburg county record was shot last yr just a couple of miles from me. Looking forward to seeing what shows up here, have loads of trail cam pics. Good luck ya'll this season.
Hey Matthew, nice mix. One area around 5 acres or so was logged out and is now a huge bedding area. There is several hundred acres of crop fields across road from me with a swamp and Black river feeder on the back side of it. The deer come from there and cross along wood line and my yard. I usually average around 120 or so pics every 4 days on just one of my cams in backyard in a food pile about 35 yds off my back deck. Have seen a few nice shooters, but nothing monstrous as of yet. Hows it looking where your at ?
Lets use this thread to post up any SC bucks taken. Always good to know what's around us. I hunt in Greenville/TR mostly, but just got back Sunday from hunting private acreage in the low country. Buddy on the same hunt culled the herd at the request of the owner. The buck was aggressive with others and had broken off with bad genetics. First buck I've seen in the real and not on my trail cam photos.
lonewolf should be here Friday, just got the QAD Ultra mounted up and setup. I'll finally be in the woods bowhunting this weekend!
