This is awesome Sycamore, I wish there was more people that did stuff like that. We have to keep the tradition alive. Property to hunt on is becoming more and more sparse.

I actually only ever use Conquest Scents - Evercalm. I put it on the branches above the scrape and a few shavings will fall into the scrape. It works perfect every time.

I really don't mess with other scents or synthetics during the season - even with scrapes. My goal is to be as scent free as possible - I will occasionally use the Evercalm in trees around me if I've been winded by deer or I think that the wind might has shifted in the deers favor - using it as a cover scent.

I was actually in the #ConquestScents literature a 4 years ago. The stiff is fail proof.
I run it on my boots every other time I hunt. One swipe each boot so I dont over power the nose.

I had this guy at 20 yards last night. Trail cam pictures make him look bigger then he is. Probably a 3 year old. Saw 14 total, 4 were bucks. 1 shooter 8 got within 60 yards.

The other 2 pictures are does. I love fall!

That’s pretty cool!! I definitely probably saw that piece then because I’ve been on EC for awhile now. It can get hard to find in stores it’s so popular.

I’m actually not a huge fan of the other deodorant based products they have. I’ve tried them and haven’t seen a huge difference. Not a knock on the company at all - EC is just a difficult product to duplicate or match up to in my opinion.

I use the boot technique as well but not every hunt. It really just depends on the situation. You know sometimes you can avoid walking on a deer run into a stand - but some stands it’s unavoidable in instances like that I definitely like to use it.

I actually need to get some EC. I used it 2 seasons ago and thought it was crazy how well it seemed to work. As far as scrape scents go, I stopped using them after years of no real noticeable difference. I have never seen a buck hit a scrape in bow range that I created or hung a dripper on. Maybe I'm not doing it right?

Has anyone tried peeing in their mock scrapes. I've done it and had a buck hit the scrape shortly after I was up in the stand. I've been doing this for a few years now. Works great.

    Do it.

But not “all-in” on the effectiveness of it. I think it maybe helps more than it hurts - but EC over my own piss is fine by me. Lmao

And I think folks pissing in scrapes has surely chilled the talk about peeing from a tree stand. For goodness sakes - maybe the movement or your diet is to blame but not your piss.

Here a a couple pic I got off my cellular cams. They are not monsters. But they will feed my family. Hopefully I can seal the deal. We have antler restrictions of 4 points or better on one side. Good luck everyone. I hope to be able to visit our chat more one the season starts. Been too busy with work and family.

Just looked at the weather for opening day. High of 52 and low of 39. I plan on being out for the evening hunt right after work.

90 degrees forecast for Friday here, soooo I won't be hunting that day. 74 Sunday with North wind and that is about perfect for a spot that I really like. I'll sneak in a morning hunt Sunday and hang out with my youngest daughter the rest of the time. I only get her every other weekend, so I try not to be absent those days. Extended forecast for next week looks awesome! Another bit of news for me is that I am looking for a new job, which complicates time off for me. I won't have any leave when I get a new position for weeks, unless I can negotiate that into my hiring process. Usually means you sacrifice some salary equal to the paid time off. Anyway, it is getting closer to the opener for some of you and that's pretty neat.

We are getting close! Tonight I wash all the clothes and shoot. Tomorrow I shoot and get to bed early. Saturday I kill.

My Oak Ridge hunts have been cancelled due to Covid unfortunately but no big deal. I now turn my focus to one of the big 8 pointers behind the house. Also the vacation I had planned out in November has been tacked on to next week. I hunt from Sept 26-Oct 4th. Let me tell you, the temps are looking incredible for next week and into the weekend.

I basically have 6 spots to choose from Saturday morning. Usually I have 10 to 12 but this year I wanted to really refine my spots. I think 6 is plenty to rotate and not burn any 1 spot out. Here are 2 spots I will not be at opening day. If you look in the background you can see the stands. 20200924_174448.jpg 20200924_174302.jpg

Here's one of the 4 spots I'll be at on Saturday. It depends on what I'm seeing on the cards tonight. I pulled all my cards this afternoon so I'll be busy looking at a lot of pictures. 20200924_173514.jpg 20200924_173211.jpg
