Vacation is over, I’m home, got the big stuff out of the car and ready to lay down, driving sucks. Debating doing some card pulls/rub scouting tomorrow. I haven’t been to the pond since I hung my ladder. We open Saturday, I want to stay out of there but it’s killing me to know/confirm if I set them in the right spot. I’m probably going to hunt that stand opening weekend, son has a ball game at 1130, so I have plenty of time to get home and back to the woods for prime time. Vacation was fun, but it always nice to get home back into the routine.
Great to hear that more of the team is hunting! Hunted the last two evenings, really nice being on stand , trees are changing color , bugs are gone and nice temps. Buck sightings and trail cam pictures here are way down. Bumper acorn crop, bucks are just staying in the woods and aren't moving much. It's like their resting up and getting fat for the rut. I need to shoot a doe soon almost out of hamburger. Good luck to all the team hunting!
On the way to the baseball game today I saw a good buck waking through a cut corn field around 850 this morning. Then coming back through tonight around 6 the field was loaded again with deer. I may try getting permission to hunt thus property. Access would be parking off the highway walking through the cut corn to a point . Gotta check the tax map and see who the owner is I didn’t see any posted signs.
Something looks a bit odd about the rack on the buck to the left. I'd be excited too if I could get that kind of pic. Also, I've yet to see the first fresh rub anywhere I've hunted.
I just bumped 3, might be a sign to get out of here. I really want to get these cameras up top but I don’t want to kick everything up.
Better pic of funky Freddie, I believe this is one I shot straight down under my tree and never found last year, I have pic of him with a scar right where I hit him. Arrow went about 3 inches in.
I have found about 20+ rubs, lots of small saplings and a couple 1-1.5” trees, about to walk the old rub line and see what’s happening.
All set up in Kentucky. Does are safe this sit. If I see a buck I expect him to come to the pond from the left and I expect it right at dark. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well guys, I missed a nice 8 point this evening. The way it played out I was really rushed. Like I said in the LFTS thread, I’m not really sorry I missed. He might have scored 120”. Don’t get me wrong: I’d have been thrilled to kill him, but I also know I have bigger bucks to chase. The details are in the LFTS thread if you want to read them. I’ll go back to the same tree in the morning and then I’ll be going back home to try my home spot again.
Thanks for sharing your stories everybody. Keep the stories coming. I'm enjoying them all. I do have a Duck youth hunt with two of my granddaughters this weekend.
Spoke to the land owner his kids lease out the property. I’m not looking to lease any property in NY. I’m fortunate to have other places available to hunt for now. I’ll keep searching for other options.
I got back home at noon, washed my clothes and now I’m back on stand here at home. I checked my cameras. I had 234 pics but the biggest buck I had on camera was a decent 8 at 4:30 am.
I was wrong. The good 10 point was on the other camera but it was at 10:10 pm. At least he’s still here.
