Eventful morning. Ended up seeing 4-5 deer one giant 1.5 year old fork that doesn’t have a tail. If he makes it and sticks around he will be an easy one to keep track of. I’m done until the evening of October 1st. It sure felt good to knock the dust off with a couple trial runs. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
You folks have me so jazzed for the season! Can’t wait! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm out. Gonna trim a lane at the stand I hunted this AM so I can shoot behind me. Its really thick back there and only one spot that I can open up about 3' wide so I can shoot. Ill be back out this afternoon at the corn tree stand. Where i shot my Doe last weekend.
Up the mtn, waiting for steady thermals. A zero day of rest yesterday was awesome. Hot shower, laundry, fellowship with other hunters, moose burgers (complements of a friend who got his once in a life Shiras in CO)... Called on the way up the mtn, but silence. Last day for ML here too...
After the past two days of walking 2 plus miles in and 2 plus miles out with zero sightings, I'm questioning my sanity and almost done with the whole sentimental piece about where and why I hunt where I hunt. Kinda sore today and tired. My wife is pushing me to hunt only 5-7 days a year out at the DIY outfitter in Illinois that I used to go to. I can't do that while I'm in grad school though, can't miss that much class. I just need to regroup and smack myself out of it, as I've only been out three times. The spots I went to Friday and Saturday will be great for the rut. I should probably focus on does until then. I'm done whining for the day I think!
The truck is all loaded up and I'll be leaving in a half hour for Kentucky. The wind there is supposed to be ENE and E today and then SE Monday and Tuesday. That isn't ideal for my spots in Kentucky, but I can make it work, and that wind is horrible for all of my spots here at home. I'll put up two stands this afternoon: I'll hang a morning stand at the "dirt bike" spot, but I'm going to shift a bit east and try to intercept the traffic I've observed. After I place that stand I'll go to the "T woods" and shift to a tree where the east wind won't hurt as much. I'm still not wanting to shoot a doe in the evenings, but any doe that gives me a shot in the mornings will get an arrow launched at them.
Seen on another page out of Louisiana. Just something to think about for us southern hunters. Crazy Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Bad enough you have to worry about danger noodles on the ground! Imagine coming up eye level to that poison delivery dart. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

I was thinking of moving to KY, TN or AL when I retire, but I'm not keen on finding one of them in my stand.
Nice little spot in the sun no less. I have spotted a couple of King snakes near my stand and had a thought.. On one hand I was happy to know poisonous snake would be getting got but on the other hand if the king snakes are there does that mean poisonous snakes are too!?
