I have a surplus of deer in the freezer from last year. My wife was pregnant (had 4th child in June) and when she is pregnant she won't eat deer, she says it smells and tastes different so I don't go through it as fast.
Last year we made over 100 pounds of brats and Italian sausage which i enjoy. when we grill ill throw a 4 pack on and I eat those. Ive given several away too.

I think this fall I'm going to make a lot of jerky and if i have time some summer sausage. Every fall/winter I also smoke cheese, which is something you should do if you can.

Have to finish the ceiling on my covered deck and fix leak on chimney before I can get going on everything else. Sometimes being a responsible adult sucks.

was looking at forecast and oct 1 and 2 are supposed to be lows in low mid 40s and a high of 70, was thinking i should try to take Friday the 2nd off and got enjoy a sit in our new woods just to see whats going on.

I don't know if i buy into this but moon phase chart says oct 2 is a "Best++++" hunting day

Jumped a few on the way to the stand this morning. Since then I've had two bucks come in to 80 yards and work a scrape

Hey guys sorry for the absence, ****ty internet, doesnt look like it'll improve. Anyways, I've had some fun sits, seeing plenty of deer. Just actually none in range, and no shooter (about 110"+for me) bucks seen yet from stand. But as season goes on it should pick up.

Flying back to the east coast from Oregon as we speak. Not going after any whitetails yet but I’m going to hop into the marsh and hunt Sika Deer all day Saturday. Their pre rut has just started and they should be full blown rutting by about the first week of October.

BBFC449C-C0D3-43AA-9372-8BA175B9EFF9.jpeg Youth duck hunt this past weekend so haven’t been doing any deer hunting. Kids have their last few soccer games this week so that will be done as well. Working this weekend, but hoping to sit next Monday and/or Tuesday evening.

I did track a deer Friday night that my sister in law shot. Her first deer ever with a bow. They weren’t sure on the shot penetration but had pretty good blood. I brought my pup to help track and he did really well. Thinking I might be able to make a tracking dog out of him yet with some more practice. He followed the trail right to it and had the deer located as we were still tracking blood. It was pretty cool to see.

    Good luck everyone!

Took a kid from church (he's 18) out on a hunt on his parents property. Had a doe bust us I thought but then then I heard an unusual sound. I heard a faint growling sound. Turns out the kids dog followed us to the ground blind and he and the doe had a stand off before he chased her off. Then it started to rain hard and we didn't see another deer. That was Tuesday morning. I'm going to try and head out tomorrow afternoon for an evening hunt on a different property.

I got permission for property I been trying to get on for the past 5 years. Always holds better than average bucks for this area. Heading over tomorrow to hang a stand and set two cams.
