As promised earlier. MN Covid-19 numbers spreadsheet I have been keeping track of. Likely numbers somewhere between the 2:1 and 5:1 that is highlighted in yellow based on CDC surveillance blood testing. Covid Numbers MN 9-16-2020.png

Officials here seem to be on the ball, I've had calls from two health departments from two counties MO and KS, one I reside in and one adjacent. Making sure I stick to quarantine and that anyone I may have been in contact with are notified. I hadn't had any other contact so no issues.

Man I do not want to deal with no taste or smell for 45+ days, that's friggin annoying. I can sense sweet, salty, bitter and sour...flavor is non existent. Of course if I had to choose, I'd prefer this over the really aggressive, dangerous version of covid symptoms so it could be worse. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets as I feel a little better today vs yesterday.

get out in the sunshine- even if it's laying in a hammock. Tons of evidence Vitamin D really kicks the hell out of the virus.

Listening to the Democrats about testing and contact tracing
They are manic about this , manic . So I ask where are these lab reports going and what else are they doing with these tests. EVERY SINGLE TEST also gathers DNA material....Hhhmmmmm

The only test they with me was a nasal swab, it had snot on it...if thats going to do them any good for genetic purposes then they'd have likely had something better on record long before now.

Milestone day since the inception of the OP it was never on the second page of the watercooler. That being said I decided today that I will not be picking up my friend from MSP and driving up to Wisconsin deer camp for gun season. I have not gun hunted for years but still went up to cook and hang out. Nope not going to hang out with up to 20 people in the shack.

My county is doing very well in the past 3 weeks. Our 7-day average is now 3 cases a day and no one in the hospital right now for COVID. Being I work from home I do not get out much, but when I do most people are obeying the rules indoors.

So our school board had a meeting last night regarding the status of kids going back to school. We were presented with several options to pick from and they asked parents to answer a survey stating what their preference was, and why. They stated this was the most successful survey they've done in the history of the school, with nearly 80% of all parents submitting a response.

Overwhelmingly, the parents supported a hybrid solution that would see 1/2 of the kids going to school on Mon/Weds and the other half on Tues/Thurs. Friday would be a remote "live learning" day for all kids with their teacher. On the other two days, we would have asynchronous learning - meaning the kids have assignments they need to complete on their own without the teacher. It wasn't ideal, but it was a step in the right direction that was supported by the vast majority of parents in the district.

When it came time for the school board to vote on the matter, they decided that they know better and that our kids are not going back to school at all. We are to continue 100% remote learning until further notice.

I cannot think of a finer example of what is wrong with our society as it is constructed today. Somehow our elected officials have forgotten that they represent the will of the people who elected them. They act as if they are morally superior and somehow more intelligent that the rest of us and that we're not fit to make decisions on our own. Why even ask for the opinions of the parents if they aren't prepared to honor their wishes? It makes no sense to me.

The only person who stood up and supported the decision of the parents was the school board President, who said while she disagreed with the decision, she would vote with what the parents wanted. However, I have to question her true belief in this as she was the final vote of the evening and the decision had already been made without her. It's easy to say you stand with the parents when there is no recourse for doing so.

I've never really cared who sat on the school board until recently. I have a feeling those who voted no aren't going to see another term.

Elected officials that think they "know better" for their constituents... Our high school just announced last night the kids would be at home for two weeks starting tomorrow. No kids in the building today because the teachers need to prepare for the next two weeks of distance learning.

We had a safety training at work yesterday about electricity and ladders but the guy was asked about covid and he was very knowledgeable with Walz's emergency order and the mask mandate. It essentially says if you are not wearing a mask in a place of business and someone reports that place of business, the MDH must follow up to review the report. If you have a health condition that exempts you from a mask, you must then wear a face shield.

This safety guy is working on behalf of businesses that are being fined by the state of Minnesota, one of his businesses that is being fined is a construction company and they are being fined because they had 4 workers inside of a house that was being built, the walls just went up so it is considered an "indoor workplace" and they were reported to the MDH for not following the executive order. this company is being fined $7,000 per worker by the state. This is pure lunacy!

Had a kid in my wife's school with COVID, they go every day, and zero COVID spread to other kids and teachers in their classroom.

But Germ, this can't possibly be true! If one person gets it, the entire school is going to die. I know this because Trump is a liar and controlling the CDC, and Fauci said something one time that made me believe my life is in grave danger.

I'm calling the teacher's union and demanding hazard pay while we threaten to strike!

    nope it's true

Also, a football player had it at practice for my son's school, guess how many it spread to?

    Yep, zero

The place it's spreading is college campuses, where pretty much the simply rules are ignored

I get Minnesota is rocks ands cows... but based off of these numbers shouldn't we be figuring out a way to keep the kids in the classroom and possibly look at distance teaching? If you are sick stay home obviously, but I think we have been looking at this the wrong way. Teachers over 50 or if you have underlying conditions that are susceptible to covid, we understand, you just became distance teaching specialists! teachers 25-50 you are in the trenches. This is a war we are fighting like it or not. Covid Numbers MN short 9-23.png

In fact of the schools that have had cases, we have had zero spread. The SMCC kid had no sysmptons and my friend's kid who plays soccer was within 5'6'' of her and got quarantine and missed 14 days of his sr year of soccer and the tourney we played them in. He tested negative all week and they still would not let him play. Of the schools around here where mask or being worn and social distances are being enforced are doing pretty good

We are almost 5 weeks into school here, full in person 5 days a week, and so far (knock on wood), we're doing well.
