At least you can get lumber. I am replacing my deck and it took 3 months to procure enough 5/4 boards to start it. Was really close to just saying f’ it and using 2x4’s as deck boards. I did end up making the switch to masonry columns because 4x4’s were going to be an even longer wait. Not a cheap decision when your talking 14’ tall columns. That also had the added benefit of allowing me to extend the upper and 2nd level from the originally planned 12’ length to a full 16’ length. I had originally wanted to make a 32’ long single level to begin with but the building inspector is an ******* and was going to require me to use masonry columns if I had a span longer than 12’ so to save some money I made it 2 levels, each 12’ long. The split level idea has kind of grown on me so I am keeping that but it is kind of nice to get the full 32’ I wanted.

Well boys I didn't have any luck Sunday night my boss's good friend who is also in the Urban hunt here this year scored big time! A mere few hundred yards where I sat basking in the glorious hunting woods, seeing nothin but a couple squirrels but still having the time of my month, Jim was slaying a giant! There's still some really, really nice bucks in this park but man this guy is an absolute stud for this area. Like a couple times in a lifetime in Parkersburg WV. And to top off the cake he was 2 or 3 days tops from shedding his velvet so this is a score that extremely few people have the opportunity to pull off in this state. Super awesome! I laid hands on him an man! I'm freakin pumped up to really get after it this year. Even took Friday off work because there's a break in the weather coming; low 40s at night down from the 60s and 70° Friday down from 80° Thursday. Saturday the high is 67! Fall is so close I can taste it and it tastes like fresh backstraps![IMG]

Got a stand brushed in and trimmed some shooting lanes today for next weekend.i can’t hunt opening morning because I said I would do a golf outing like an idiot lol but I’m probably going to skip the evening hunt also because after 18 holes of golf and free shots at every hole.... I’ll most likely be speaking cursive lmao definitely hunting next Sunday though!

I will gladly take the responsibility of putting the first points on the board. I need to get the first kill out of the way so I'll be sticking the first freezer queen that walks by opening morning.

I was just thinking of ways to get internet service in my ground blinds. I am currently working remotely so that could be a game changer. I would basically be getting paid to do an all-day sit 5 days per week.

One Doe that ended up getting under the apple tree offering no shot.... Then she slipped out the back side of the tree.. Nothing else showed. I'll be out again tomorrow night. I'll keep you all posted. GoodLuck. Pulled a card on the way out. This was the only good buck on it. 00000036.JPG

Sorry I didn't have any cell service in the swamp I was in tonight. I had really fun sit. I saw 6 doe, but I don't have a doe tag for that county. Then as i'm putting my sticks back on my stand I hear cruch cruch and then a deer takes off. In my mind it was a buck, but I really didn't see it, I probably should have pushed back into the marsh a bit depper. Another first for me tonight, when I was packing up my truck had a game warden stop and check my license and tags. That's the first time I've had that happen, no issues she was very nice. I may not get out till like Sunday morning now.

Sit #2 for me in city deer land. Beautiful morning, perfect temperature (for mid September at least) and a great view. [IMG]

Checked cameras tonight for the last time before season starts October 1st. My number one hit list buck shed his velvet and now living on the complete opposite side of the property which i kind of thought he would do cause thats what he did last year. Hopefully I’ll get a shot at him this season.
