Considering spending a few bucks and downloading the state to my Android. Can I access it to both my Android and my laptop? Thanks.
yup! desktop/laptop version is my favorite way to access OnX but the app is great too. The app has a ton of different features to use. Camofire.com has them on sale every once in a while. I think you can get a single state for around $20 for the year?
I may have answer my own question. I was just looking at basemap and yeah, imma have to check it out.
The interface works better on my phone, layers are more seamless. I also get less error messages for land owner information. It seems to do everything Onx does at about a third of the cost. Yes I am on rokslide
I am definitely going to invest in BaseMap now. Ok, I thought I've seen your name a time or two on there.
Guys with OnX and Basemap, does one seem to update landowners quicker? At a third of the price it's tempting but I would hate to lose my 200 waypoints on OnX.
Both pull from state or county property tax registries. I believe both apps update every 1 to 2 years. Depending on where you fall in those 1 to 2 years, either app may be more up to date. Regardless, from what I've seen, if things are streamlined at the county level and run efficiently, things will be more accurate. Anecdotally, my brother bought his land in October of last year. It was updated no later than two months later on OnX. That may have just fallen into their update window though.
Although I don't have experience trying out Basemap, I can say that I am happy with what OnX is doing as a company. They have been campaigning to open up land-locked public land for recreation.
One state is $29.99 so that isn't an issue. Basemap is $30 but I don't need other states, only Tennessee. I'm hunting public land and WMAs so I'm concerned about surrounding private land. Thanks for all who replied. Know a fellow who has a small farm in a very rural area. Need to see about hunting there. I would like to hunt but my goal is to have a place for my grandson and I to hunt without him having to get extra permits other than the firearm deer season.
I have On-X and Huntstand pro. I prefer Huntstand. I have them both the year and lodint the same spots in botht o see how it works.
It took about 14- 18 months for OnX to update a land transfer and re- survey in Montcalm Co MI but that's pretty rural. About the same for HuntStand to update in Adams Co WI, also rural. Could be the property just changed hands right after the updates.
Thanks. Is that for a new subscription or renewal? Found several 20%; one 30% but could never get the code for it. Yes, I'm going to make the plunge probably tomorrow. Wife wanted to go for a drive today. Loaded up the two puppies and took off. My goal was to locate a couple of local WMAs. Need onX to give the exact lines as the state maps leave a bit to be desired. Printing them leaves about a lot of detail as to roads. BTW, just looking for Tennessee so the other sites really wouldn't be useful.
John, does TN. not paint mark the border trees on WMA lands ? If not, sure would be hard to press trespassing from WMA to private.
