Opening day starts Saturday in NC. Have multiple velvet shooters showing up at 8 a.m. on cam pics.
Question: Stand is placed on edge of Buck bedding area and wind is predicted to be marginal. Should I attempt going in that morning or hold off till afternoon for another spot wind is more favorable. Also calling for spotty rain all day.

You cannot beat a deer's nose. If the wind is wrong, the spot is wrong.

Agree with the above. As tempting as it may be, wait for the right wind and hunt another spot.

Yea ,I know, been tellin myself that since I been watching the weather reports for the last 48 hours. Don't want to push those early deer out of the area since i've got pretty good intell with trail cam pics. Think I'll try another stand where wind is right; just no bucks on camera.

Wind can be sneaky and do weird things though. I would get up and make sure the wind is doing what it says it doing on my phone. I’ve went to bed thinking “man that wind is going to suck, I better go somewhere else”, then step outside in the morning and it be complete opposite.

Whatever your watching for wind predictions may change multiple times by Sat. Hopefully for the better!

Hey billy-d thanks for the reply. Yea phone app says it will be an ENE wind on Sat. morning. Stand set good for East and South. Not good for North wind. May just see what it's doing the day of and try it. Still got a long season and everything goes out the window around Thanksgiving when we start seeing RUT activity.

Yeah go to another spot. When the wind is right, get in there and kill him if you haven't by then!

So from your cam pics when are the bucks coming by? Morning? Evening? Also what is the wind when they are coming by your camera? Use the info you have and hunt from that. If they only come by on a North wind, then move your stand so you can hunt them on that wind.

This is why for years I've positiond stands/ blinds in an area that favors all but swirling winds. N E S W 1 to 2 hundred yards or less apart. The property is set up in sections.

Oh best of luck drop him hard
