Sweet! Good luck and I agree with Holt, although that might be a loooong walk. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Will do. I know where a few white oak groves are, and they ARE producing this year from my observations I made last week.
Live from the bear stand. Just went and picked up my bow from the shop today (new strings) so I have the Marlin with me. Need to target practice a little before I shoot an animal with my bow. Already seen 6-8 deer.

Gate's is the only one I can think of just off 70 that wouldn't cost you a lot of time. L.C's is a bit out of the way, but doable depending on your tolerance. I mean there's no shortage of bbq in KC. ,but those come to mind. If you can get just west of St. Louis in one day it puts you in KC around lunch time. I'm guessing that's about 10 hours in one day before stopping for the night? Another 3.5 or 4 hours to KC. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I did Gates last time. IMHO, a solid, and convenient choice. I may do a detour to Joe's this time. Last time I drove, I left 2pm on Fri. Stopped west of stl around 2am, after pulling off in Paduca for coffee and a rain storm in IL. A few hrs of sleep and stopped for late breakfast in Topeka area...totally wrong time of day. So I stopped on the way back right at dinner time. I made it to CO Sat evening. I really want to avoid NC and CO mtns at night...
I'm anal as hell about the schedule when driving long trips. Done the NC to MO trip more times than I can count since 1998 and yeah those mountains are better in the day. Some day I'll go back out to Colorado and hopefully for elk. Good luck, Bill. If you hit KC at a decent time, I'd come have bbq and a beer with ya. Are ya supposed to pee on it? Wait, that's jellyfish. Cherry juice, tart cherries, are supposed to help. Get better Joe!
