The problem in my area is there are seeps/springs everywhere. They can get a drink of water in a bajillion places. If I find a climber I will search out either an active wallow or simply a well used trail. If I find a spring/seep with a lot of sign near typical bedding, then that might be a good spot for a middle of the day sit. They will want a drink at some point during the day.
Depends where you're going...AZ, NM, UT are still dry, but WY and a good bit of CO got snow. Not sure for ID, MT, etc From a friend of mine hunting Colorado this MORNING. I will be 30 miles south of this spot, very soon.
You hunting the morning? I can't this year because I got to take the kids to school. But I will be in stand for the afternoon! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Idaho, about 60 minutes from my home, unit 8a. I've had one single time in my 28 years of archery elk hunting when we actually got a bit of snow during September, it is a rare occurrence. I wouldn't mind a bit of snow, any kind of moisture would be welcomed at this point. I'm really hoping for some kind of storm to put down some rain...but hopefully not the entire week I'm there hunting. Had a season like that a couple of years ago. Lots of fires burning too, which will greatly affect the air quality and make glassing from a distance a no go. Going to be a challenging year in my area, unless they are really vocal. Some years they are, some they aren't. Will still beat the heck out of work.
Live from the couch...Got a massive gout flare-up in my left big toe. Better now than a week from now!
