My parents live in Alberta. I have hunted Whitetails, Mule Deer, Elk and Moose there. Due to Alberta law, it is only once every three years since I am coming up from the States. I am the only bow hunter in my family so it is typically a rifle hunt for deer. However, on the elk hunts, I have hunted with my bow for the first few days as the beginning of elk season and the end of the early moose archery season overlap. If I have not killed anything by the end of moose archery I switch over to the rifle for the remainder of the hunt. I have taken a great mule deer and elk. I almost killed a moose with my bow on the last trip in 2018. I got to 65 yards and was at full draw, settling my pin when the bull took off. Two more seconds and I would have shot.

I should have been out in Colorado for an OTC elk hunt but couldnt get work and family timing right. Planning wayy ahead for next year. That's my dream to kill an elk with a bow. I'd be just as happy with a muley, antelope or moose!

So my buddies hit me up about a month ago to plan for an otc elk bow hunt next year. First talk was colorado but now i think he is leaning more towards Idaho. It would be my second out of state hunt. Went and did an Antelope hunt couple years back. We planned two weeks 3 guys 4 tags and was tagged out 9 am on day 3.

Also i may start looking into Nebraska due to friends and family there with a reasonable out of state tag price. Wouldnt mind getting with an old boss for a muley on a ranch in western Nebraska.

Missouri is $285 for a nonresident archery license which will allow two deer. Both can be bucks if one is killed before Nov 15 and one after the start of rifle season. Additional antlerless archery tags are $25 and you can purchase an unlimited quantity as long as you fill the one in possession first.

Well the local pro shop told me to try out these Havalon HV fixed blade broadheads. He said they are nasty accurate and sharp. Well...he owes me an arrow. Very first shot to see how they impacted compared to field point.[IMG]

Idaho is an option for next year for us if we really get after it. With my career goal of flying (flight medic and a killer schedule) I plan on buying points for NV elk and antelope and getting conditioned for backcountry hunting. Hopefully, I’m flying in 3 to 5 years.

I did look at Idaho and there are some spots that I would go. Have you guys talked about where you’d go.

My season opens this Friday the 5th till 29 Nov. We as a family have 8 deer tags, and 3 Elk tags to fill so freezer should be good this year. My occupation is heavy equipment operator but filling the safety officer position. Desk work sucks but gives me more time for electronic scouting. I'm good with the team name and captain.

I don't think I could ever work a desk job or an 8-5 again. I love my 48 hour shift.

My oldest got out and shot today and was super proud of his grouping. He's putting in the work for next year.

I am out of town for the weekend. Have a great Labor Day guys. We will give a couple more days. I believe Teams have to be settled by the 15th. Someone double check that in the rules though. I won’t be on as much for the next few days.
