Indeed. He had caked on velvet that made his one side look like it had been dipped in dark chocolate so called him Cocoa. My 10 year old son in his first hunt ever shot a really nice buck that year 22031642-71BC-4825-BB2E-1C5A3942B339.jpeg 39158B27-0B8E-4FFD-8C68-7883FECBC032.jpeg 34CFE074-C4A2-4193-9FA7-B511BC030448.jpeg too. That one will be tough to beat! Funny that you remember that.

When you say "too late" do you mean for you to get to it or too late to grow something? Brassicas and clover is right on. Oats and several other options.

Yes, the only satisfaction is we talked to the land owner who was letting these &**#%$ guys hunt. She was totally unaware and told them they wouldn't be allowed to hunt there any longer. One poacher down and a couple to go.

dont have time to do anythis year. partly because we don't have any implements to do the work. the neighbor planted it for us and is baling it. Id like him to plant corn and then never combine it, or at least leave several rows blocking rest of plot from road.

Put a couple cams out today on the family property, it's a 140 ac piece near my mother's house. She been seeing a really good bear the last month or so. I might hunt it during the early bear season in couple week. I also hung a stand in saddle that in the past sees some good starting the end of October buck movement. I havent hunted this property in about three years. This year might be the last as we are waiting on an offer from the DEP to purchase it.

That's what I'm going to do here in a week or so. It will be the first time for me. In the past I've ever only done clover and turnips. The only implement I've used is a lawn mower with a sprayer tank attached to it to kill weeds. I've sprayed the area twice, not sure if I really need to again it's pretty bare. Next step is going to be spread seed and fertilizer then mow what's left of the dead grass and let that protect and moisturize the seeds to help them grow. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I planted part of the plot at my in-laws last weekend. The clover we planted last fall has done really well and with the amount of browsing pressure the deer put on it I really didn't have to mow this year. The parts that had annual grass weeds growing in it was broadcast with our TBI Killzone mix and some Buck Forage Oats. The last 2 little rains we've had will help it get going and the weeds will protect the new growth. We shall see. I killed my biggest deer at their place. Right in town.

did some trail work and had to pull a honey locust thorn out of my shin...

did a bunch of work in the new land and it was slow going. so over grown.
got a new stand location set up. it looks promising! ran out of time before we got everything on the list done, hope we get it all done pretty soon.
