Hey guys ill post this up. Good news i got landowner this year and could potentially shoot 3 bucks bad news is no scouting that property and or doing anything to it till hunting due to pushing deer off it in years past.

Hey guys! I can’t wait to get out and hunt! My life is a little crazy right now since I am getting adjusted to life in the National Guard, working full time, and being a dad to 3 girls and a husband. Got a couple shooters showing up but the rut always brings in more. Hoping to top my personal best of 149”. Very doable. Where about a do you guys live?

Just hang a stand. Literally anywhere. You’ll be fine.

I’m from Oskaloosa. I work in Pella at Vermeer. Most of my hunting is done in Blakesburg.

The company I work for makes parts for Vermeer. Seen any Kooima Company boxes floating around?

I have grandparents there. And yes, I frequent there a good portion of the year. So pretty much.

Nice! I mainly hunt private. Very blessed to have about a thousand acres at my disposal. I do plan on bouncing around a lot during the early season between some local public areas and my private spots.

It's why our hunting is good, and why non-residents are willing to wait several years for a tag. We could open it up, but then we would be just like Missouri and the other states that have issues with overcrowding and a over harvest of immature bucks. So, not really stupid at all. Pretty smart actually if you enjoy hunting mature whitetails. I waited for several years for an elk tag in a good zone. It's basically the same here for deer.

I agree. I’m sure it can be frustrating for non residents but the quality is worth the wait.

See....now that is my problem. If you are a non-resident and have immediate family in Iowa, we should be able to purchase OTC tags. My family land is not hunted. I have permission, but do not get to hunt it. So, technically, me coming and hunting my families land ones not affect the state of Iowa residents one single iota. I’m not saying open the state up to OTC tags for everybody, but it sure would be nice.

Or, do open it up to OTC tags and charge an insane price. $1,500.00 or something like that. You would probably have the exact same result you get now.

you mean the 600 acres my grandpa owns? i think if you own the land or have permission for private land you should get a "private land" tag similar to resident tags
