Anyone have any info on these things? Are they worth it? I can bring the laptop but this would much easier.
I have had hardly any luck with them. I had one from rural king that was okay. It’s like the lightning plug just wasn’t the right size, and I’d have to hold it in there kinda sideways. The Moultrie one didn’t work at all from day one. I have the bone view now and it works 40% of the time. It’s faster for me to bring a lap top, plug the card in copy and transfer pics than it is to fiddle with the as sd reader.
I have one I do a quick check on my phone, if there is a lot of good info I'll swap the card and take home. I do not data mine all my data from cards either, usually make a folder and do a little research on them, I have better things to do than spend hours putting spreadsheets together. Do not use the Moultrie one, once my phone updated the fw on the reader didn't work for some reason. I have a cheap stealth cam one that can on the package that works well enough. I do have a camera or two on my walk in, so I will pull the card on the way to the stand and see what's been going on and put it back when I leave.
I'll second that. But I'm also doubled up on 32gb cards, so it's a simple matter of swapping cards on the way into the stand, then looking at the images while I'm in the tree. I feel like I'd spend too much time on the ground if I was looking at the images plugged into the cam. Plus, a laptop just seems like another bulky item that I don't need to take into the field. Stealth cam reader works well, I use it to check the view of the cam when I setup a new camera to make sure it’s seein what I want to capture, I will check them in the field too but I mainly swap out cards and review at home. I run on video 9 outa 10 and that takes some time to go through.
I've done the laptop, just swap cards and view them later, and three different cheap readers of trying to dump them onto my iphone. Apple is just too picky about not allowing any other type of reader to work if it isn't an Apple product. If you have an iphone and are willing to pay Apple price, their SD reader attachment is a good method to dump pics from an SD card onto your phone. I wouldn't mess with any off brand. It's a shot in the dark as to whether the phone will allow it to work or kick up the "not a supported accessory" message. I had one non apple reader that would work for about 15-20 seconds and then interrupt the download with the above message. Had to shut the phone off and turn back on to get it to work for a bit again. PIA if trying to view a high quantity of pics. And don't mess with the SD readers that are supposed to plug into an iphone if you download the I-flash app, they don't work either. I currently just swap cards, have my laptop in the truck, and view them on the laptop when I return to the truck. If I was pulling them on the way to the stand I'd either get the apple sd reader for iphone (if you have an iphone), or get the stealthcam with viewer.
I've been through several card readers and the one thing I've learned is the tend to not last long and quit when you least expect it. I now try to stay away from the ones with a cord, as that is where all my previous ones failed. I have one now that is a direct connection with no cord. No clue what brand; it is just a generic pos I got on Amazon for about 12 dollars, but it has lasted longer than some others.
They make ones cheaper than this but you get the idea... https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insign...sOgw7Xk_4eOKKaimTSRoCuCcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I use this one. I leave it in my truck and attaches to my phone https://www.boneview.com Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the Wildgame innovations, works great. Even made it through a round in the washer machine and still worked. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
