You are going to cry I was glad I was alone just me and her. It did make it worse though I think, then again my daughter made it a sport to make me cry when she got married. I held it together till the father daughter dance and she chose that damn Paul Simon song from the Rugrats movie soundtrack, blindsided me. Paul Simon Father and Daughter I challenge you to watch that with a dry eye tonight.

The chorus I am Going To Watch You Shine Going To Watch You Grow, As long As 1 and 1 Is 2 There will Never Be a Father That Loves His Daughter More Than I love You, good luck with that.

Those sort of views are why I like hiking the AT and elk hunting out west.

And when the maples and birches are in autumn color, VT is extra beautiful.

My oldest keeps saying she wants to go to Virginia Tech. Mom wants her to try for University of Virginia. Haha. I bet she sticks with old blue collar Tech. I cant believe she will be gone next summer.

My toddler figured out how to ask Siri to FaceTime me this morning. I guess he wasn’t happy he woke up after I left for work. My wife had no idea what he was doing until she saw him talking to me.

So today I am driving thru tiny Upsala MN at 5:20 coming up on my left by Lang's C store to take the back way home from town. There is a crosswalk and a kid approaching on a bike, the kid looks like 4-6th grade. I stop and the kid gives me the point he is cutting right to go behind my truck to keep er moving. Smart kid will probably be a good driver.

Don't blink is right.. My two boys are all of sudden 13 and 15. These past two years have been hell on us. Their mom leaving, and not being much of a mother in her pursuit to climb the social/corporate ladder has taken a toll on their hearts. They draw closer to me each and every day and I have basically had full custody for the past year or so. But the best thing in life, is knowing they are safe and secure when I go to sleep at night because they are here and want to be here.

My daughter called about 30 minutes after dropping her off at Ohio State. She was thanking my wife and I for everything we had done for her. At the end of the conversation she started crying and asking me to come pick her up. Hardest damned thing I ever did was telling her she made a commitment and now had to see it through. May have even been a tear in my eye, but I can not confirm or deny that!

Mine turns two early this December and her Sister is due to be born late December.
I’m making a point to enjoy the crappy parts of infants and toddlers. The lack of sleep and dirty diapers.
Because in the end, it’s going to be such a small part of the adventure.

I promise you that as you get older, you will realize that you do not miss changing diapers.

I remember celebrating when my son could change his own pull-ups. Next thing I knew he was asking for the car keys then he was gone starting his own life. That sure went quicker than I thought.

Changing a diaper is one thing, my grandson seems to thing as soon as the diaper is off it is time to kick and squirm around, it is like a wrestling match.
