Hey Everyone,

Was on my last archery hunt of the season here in North Carolina. One of my buddys told me about a new shot placment spot on a deer that he said guarantees that He want run more then 60 yards or he would give me 200 bucks. He pulled out his wallet and pulled out 200 bucks and laid it on the table. He told me to hunt this afternoon and put the shot where he told me to, and if he ran more then 60 yards the 200 bucks was mine, who could resist that?

Well, sure enough a nice 135 inch stepped out, put the pin where he told me to, and found the deer 61 yards from my stand, could not beleive it.

Now lets see what everyone thinks about this shot placment.

    [IMG][/IMG]

He told me to draw a vertical line right in front of the little nudge on the deers leg, then continue to draw a box just like you see in the picture. Then he said to go right in the middle of the deer and drop down down 8 inches. Apparently right in this area is a major artery that supplies the lungs and what not. I'm not sure, but it worked.

    Thoughts?

If you hit him in the spine, your track will be MUCH shorter than 60yds.

If you do that on purpose (attempt it)......................don't expect any high-fives from me.

If you're intentionally aiming for the spot you depict, ditto.

I'm not talking about the spine. I'm talking about the arterys that run right above the lung in that area.

I believe you would be talking about the aortic artery. I am not aiming for something that small, ever.

Just shoot him in the side of the skull. Hey, it's a 50/50 chance right?

So, you're saying you got the $200? Afterall, it did go 61 yds.

As for the shot, no thanks.

Do you have any pictures of the 135 inch buck you shot? I would be interested to see a 135 inch NC buck and the entrance and exit wounds from that shot.

Why? If you are confident enough to aim for an artery that runs under the spine why not shoot at the heart/lungs larger target? Just to see if the 60 yard theory is true? God forbid you have to track another 40-50 yards (maybe) on a double lung/heart.

Why take a shot with such a small window of success when you can double lung them? I have never had a double lung shot go over 80 yards and my target area is far greater if my shot is slightly off.

As a moderator its tempting to delete this thread all together. No good has, or will, come from it.

    Disturbing.

I've hit em there before but it wasn't on purpose. The 2nd deer I ever took with a bow fell where I hit it. Of course it was due to it's spinal cord being severed and no this wasn't an intentional shot.

I would never take that shot on purpose tho.

I would also like to see a pic of this deer, congrats on the kill. In NC a 135" deer is a stud.

For some odd reason I don't think he'll be back any time soon. Unless of course, he comes back with pics.
