I’ve got a new buck to chase when the season opens in Missouri. This one is on my son-in-laws place in Windsor.

We’re going to call him Captain Hook. He’s been making regular appearances on camera.

    I’ll add a pic in a minute.

I think Captain Hook is an appropriate name.

I just checked my camera here at home.

These pics were snapped a little after 3:00 am on the 6th and he was a ways from the camera so I’m not sure they’ll post where you can see what he is but it’s worth a shot.

looks like I actually have some bucks to Target this year.

    We’ll see.

Ghost is still around there also. If I got lucky enough to put a tag on Ghost I’d be finding a taxidermist again.

Jesus Christ he’s sticking his tongue out at you. What a stud. How old and how long have you been chasing Ghost? Also any encounters with him?

I’m not sure how old he is. My only history with him is last year. My son in law has more history with him. In fact he would have gotten him early last season if his release hadn’t locked up. It had somehow jammed closed and he couldn’t open it to get it on his loop. He had to watch him walk by at 15 yards.

The only time I laid eyes on him myself was last season. At one point he was bedded down about 80 yards away and a big 8 was bedded 90 yards away.

They both finally got up and walked away from me. The next morning I killed my 10 point. He was a big bodied beast.

Ghost is a huge bodied deer also. I guarantee there won’t be any ground shrinkage when he finally falls.

Come 15 September I’ll be after them.

All of those are great bucks. No wondering if they are shooters if you see them.
I'm a sucker for trash bucks, I love non typical "trash". Captain Hook is a fantastic looking buck to me, although Ghost is certainly no slouch.
Best of luck, there are some great ones that may happen by you this season.

    Thanks.

What I’m most excited about is the fact that the bucks up at my son in law’s place move really well during daylight hours well into early season because they don’t see much pressure.

The bucks here where I live are pretty much not going to be seen during shooting light until the rut.

That's how the bucks are where I hunt. It is a rare thing to see one during shooting light until the rut is full blown.
