So anyone who’s familiar with me knows I retired in 2018 and moved to a small cabin on 8 wooded acres in Missouri. I’ve sat and watched major deer traffic walk the neighbor’s property so many times. My wife and I were driving out today and finally saw the man of the house out so we stopped so I could ask him if it would be okay for me to recover deer that might happen to run into his property. He said it wouldn’t be a problem at all and we talked for a few minutes and his wife came out of the house. Come to find out she was a high school classmate of mine and I knew her well then. Finally they said that no one hunts their 14 acres any more and I was welcome to hunt it. Oh yeah! Now I can really start having some fun hunting at home. This patch of woods is in a prime ridge crossing.
Judging off season you had last year maybe outta stay away from more acres. Won't be a deer around. Ha Pretty cool tho, crazy how small world is sometimes. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Neither can I. I’m really looking forward to matching wits with this guy. I know he survived the season. The only time I laid eyes on him last season he was on this same property close to mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Awesome! It's funny that you knew your neighbor for so long, but just meet them. Looking forward to hearing the new adventures that come from this! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
The deer are probably thinking; "Well there goes the neighborhood!". Congrats on the new property. Looking forward to your season. Blessings...........Pastorjim Sent from my RCT6703W13 using Tapatalk
I'm just going to recommend what everyone else is thinking. We have the LFTS thread every year. I recommend a new thread also be started this year called LCLFTS (Little Chief Live From The Stand), so others have room to post in the regular LFTS thread. Congrats on the additional property LC, it's awesome to have good neighbors and a good relationship with them. Even more so when they don't hunt but don't mind if you do.
That deer population has taken a real hit since LC moved there! Poor things were probably thinking they found a safe haven.. wrong! Lol!
The world is a small place man! Congrats, and hope your season is just as successful as last years! You were a killing machine on OLFTS!
Congrats on the permission. I wasn't going to bring it up, but then I saw the trail cam pic, I seem to remember you extending an invitation when we met up in Arkansas last year...just kidding... well about hunting that buck from under your nose. I am seriously considering hunting MO this year though.
I can’t promise you would see anything to shoot at here on my home place Adam, but if you buy a Missouri tag you’re welcome here anytime. Not sure I could put you on the neighbor’s property but I’ll put you within bow range of where that buck walked through last season. If you can carve out a few days off we can also take the travel trailer to Mark Twain National Forest. There are some good deer there where we hunt and there’s not a lot of pressure. The deer here aren’t stupid like the Kentucky deer are, but they aren’t as educated as those Wattensaw deer.
Thanks, I will keep that in mind. My plans are not completely set. It looks like I will be buying my wife a new-to-us car in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, it will not cost so much that it messes up my plans. There are a couple of bow only conservation pieces in Central MO that looked interesting. I am hoping to take 5-7 days. Maybe a few hitting those places and a few near you or in Mark Twain if it works out.
