I have 7 trail cam pics of him, but never saw him until Saturday evening. He came through with about 15 minutes of light left. I first saw him at around 70 yards out. He was working his way toward me but then turned at the last second and was heading out the other way. I hit the grunt call a few times, but he basically ignored it. He was going to pass behind a group of trees that I ranged earlier at 42 yards. When he cleared the trees I blahed him to a stop. I settled my 50 yard pin best I could on him and released. I couldn't see my arrow in flight because it was almost dark plus quite overcast. He took off, but about 5 seconds later a saw him topple over. He was 52 yards away. The long range practice paid off. This is my biggest ever. I rough scored him 161 5/8 and net 151. He has 13" G3s.

Sweet looking buck man. Way to get it done late.;)....also. 52 yards. 160 plus inches. Must have shook you up a bit after the shot. I can't imagine.

Thanks everyone. I'm still on cloud 9. He's at the taxidermist now. Can't wait to see the finished product next summer. I think about that great Saturday evening all the time. It would have been so easy to hang it up for the year. I guess persistence does pay off. A little luck helps too. Happy Holidays.
