You know that saying people always said your first year of college - "Freshman 15" I've got a bad case of the Covid 15. Boy oh boy I need to get my ass back into a gym. I've been 170-175 since high school and today I weighed myself for the first time in a long time... 181. Doesn't sound like much, but I can definitely notice it!
I'm laying a tad low. Besides the non stop headache I am now waking up feeling like I've been put through a ringer washer all night long.. I got some corn thinning and weeding done. A walk and mowing until the mower deck just stopped and the engage lever is just unengaged, like a limp noodle as it were. Hoping a simple missing bolt of cotter pin. I'm hoping these carb withdraw symptoms stop soon.. This isn't bad other than that. I don't like cooked veggies so all the fresh broccoli, califlower, peppers , celery, tomatoes, and roasted brussels are great. Love my deer jerky, all great snacks. Replaced salsa for catchup. Romaine leaves for sausage or burger rolls. Small cut veggies and small diced hard cheese and long thin sliced and sauteed mushrooms to replace the pasta texture in a pasta-less marinated pasta salad. Should have done this a long time ago. I think it will end up being like my salt drop years ago. I now taste salt big time in natural things like celery, some veggies and even fruits. It really doesn't take much to change your taste sensory input. Though one thing won't change try as I may, avocados make me gag.
Kinda funny with a health and fitness thread and how people tend to not stick with it, the OP has not been onsite since a year last March.
The masks really don't help. Cardio/Hiit, dropping weight (fat and even bulky muscle) and mitochondrial/ATP optimization do... I recall JZ did some hunts with Dustin (where has he gone?) out west, and I think, held Todd's cape on a few hunts in CO years ago. Pretty sure he knows what's in store...
For some maybe. I've stayed below 200# for the last 5 years once 240. Now I hover 180-190...try to get exercise in at least 5-6 days/wk.
It was a comment on the thin air altitude. Getting use to what can feel like a lack of air the first day or so
Understood. The mask restrict airflow so you, effectively, breath harder. It's a myth. The problem is really optimizing your body to more efficiency extract the oxygen it needs can't be quickly remedied. But you can acclimate within a few days, prepare for the suck (climbing a couple thousand feet, hauling weight, drop excess weight or muscle that requires more O2, train, and improve metabolism), you can treat altitude sickness (meds, H2o, simple carbs) if needed. Justin's a big boy, he knows the drill... or there will be some awesomely entertaining content this fall
Ok it was just a suggestion When we were out there it wasnt a myth to us when hubby was in charge of building at the medical center there a year and a half. I'm sure he's a big boy...
Man I've run like 3 times since last Thurs. So slow after surgery and the weeks leading up to being in pain. Ran a half mile today and had to stop and walk home. First hint of pain and I stopped. So slow.
WTG!! The important thing is you are doing it. Just keep moving!! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Got 3/4ths of a mile run in today and picked up my pace. Also did about 50 pushups without pain. First time I could do a full pushup for 3 weeks.
Yesterday I ran a mile, walked two miles, and mountain biked three miles. Minimal soreness today. Getting closer to being able to lift a tiny bit of weight with my lower body.
I've been an avid runner for the last 10 years but a torn meniscus has me sidelined since April. I had a procedure in May to have it cleaned up but it's taking way longer to heal than I was hoping. I feel I'm a couple weeks away from finally being able to run, which will be huge for me. I can definitely notice some weight gain through that time.
Solid work fellas, Cantexian is working on earning his Ranger Tab hump that ruck. VS hopefully you have turned the corner. nothing new to report on my end. Dropped my calories to 2100 and that seemed to get the scale moving again. For my weight I’m still softer than I should be. Hopefully I can get some more lean mass back. Still weight training n the morning and doing cardio in the evenings a few nights a week. stay after it guys!
