Day 19. Put out 2 trail cameras and mineral licks. For the 1st time I created a mock scrape near the mineral on an old overgrown trail on the Creek bottom.
Finally put out my whopping 5 cameras this weekend, I think I got them in some good early spots. Farmer sprayed/killed the field so I put all cameras in the woods on some old rubs and heavy trails/water source. Once the field starts showing some growth I'll transition some closer, hopefully, I'll be able to move the cameras based on what I see for travel. I got kind of excited, I even picked out some new potential trees to climb.
I'm leaving mine out 3 months then transitioning them into other areas for the remainder of the year to get eyes on potential rut travel routes. Want to see what happens in these areas in Oct and November for hunting Intel for mostly upcoming seasons.
Auto correct got you, I'm assuming you mean check them. I'll let them run until I see that the beans have grown enough to produce a food source, after that, I try to give them 3-4 weeks between. If they have good traffic I will leave them alone for a month, but closer to the season I may sneak out every two weeks if I makes location changes. Most of the spots I have cameras in I can use small creeks streams to access. I do my best to be in/out as quick as possible. Also, to my advantage, there are a few houses close to the area, I believe that helps cut down on how intrusive my stink is. It is common to smell laundry and have deer in front of me; it's not urban, but it's not miles between houses if you catch what I'm laying down.
Well it’s been 11 days since I put out my cell camera and I’ve gotten 38 deer pictures so far. I’ve been getting a decent amount of mid day movement on the camera, I’m talking like 11-1pm. Planning on going down next weekend to do some more scouting but do you think having movement at those times of the day fairly consistently would indicate I am close to bedding? Especially with pictures from yesterday and today mid day with temps near 80 I’m thinking they wouldn’t be traveling far in the heat of the day Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yeah I'd say it's probably bedding. Now come hunting season if you are getting pictures during that time and or before dark, then Id say its def bedding.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...fun fact, I'm actually from Connecticut, spent 17 years growing up there until I joined the Army in 01. Got stationed down here, did my time and found a good job and never left; I think makes me a damn Yankee. I miss some things about NE, but not the taxes. Covid. Riots. It's ok to dream of the upcoming season! I have one more trail cam to put out next week to let run til August. If it cools down some mornings I may put on some more boot miles. I'm obsessed with getting more good spots.

Sorry for the delay guys! been a busy week so far. We went down to MD and did some work for the property owners this weekend, also got a chance to get out and pull the camera cards. Very happy with the first pull, I have deer on camera every day with the exception of two days over the past month. Most days its more than one deer. Here are a few of the velvet pictures we got, have a lot of smaller velvet on camera but these were the best... can't wait to see what they turn into when they start branching out!
I wouldnt worry about having big bucks on the property just yet. If you have doe bedding, they will come. Sometimes its better that you dont see bucks on your property in the summer....
I told myself not to touch my cameras until mid July, they have been out for about 3.5 weeks, I may go check them this week/weekend. You know....so I can adjust them if needed. Farmer has the beans planted, they are sprouting, maybe a couple more weeks will get the deer hitting the field more consistent. I put all my cameras in the woods on travel paths/what I think are funnels/old rubs etc. So many activities to think about, plus, the memorial golf scramble I go to got move a week early, so I will finally be able to partake in the TN velvet hunt. I'm still on the fence about a new bow too.
