Hey guys me and two buddies are wanting to do a public land weekend here in Ohio this upcoming deer season. But.... we have never done anything like this before. Our plan is to find a spot, park the truck, camp in and by the trucks for two nights. And hunt those two days. Does anyone have and tips or advice or know any good Ohio spots where we could start? Please hit me up and help us with the possible new tradition.

Of I was to do something like this I would go for at least a week. 2 days doesn’t seem like enough time to really learn anything your just basically hoping to strike lightning

Our plan is to go down before and scout some areas out first and set markers so when we go back we know exactly where we’re wanna set up. What we don’t have knowledge of is the process. Can we just pull over anywhere and walk into the woods or can we only park certain areas how does camping work during hunting season there that kinda stuff

Oic your best bet for questions like that would probably be either game wardens or park officials of the certain areas. In all reality weather they care or not is all that really matters. I’m sure someone on here will have some insight for you though I have no idea with Ohio

This is not true... I don't know if your a resident or not Jason, but I been hunting Ohio public for 9 years now. You can most definitely get away from the crowds, there is so much public in Ohio. Just pick a parcel then go scout it. You can do a lot of scouting with topos once you pick an area then once you have boots on the ground you will have a good idea what’s there.

Yes, I am a resident. That's awesome if you have spots where there aren't many hunters!!
    Good luck this upcoming season!!

Yeah a buddy of mine hunts the public and him and his friend he took both shot 150-160 class deer. Not saying I will but be had great things to say about the place where I’m headed. He said it’s simple. Go deeper in then the rest and sit all day. Most of the masses hunt the mornings and leave. He said they both shot mid day giants

I don't hunt public much, but I work in and around a couple Ohio state parks. There are definitely big bucks if you can escape the crowds. The deeper you go, the closer you are to another road...
