Fishing with my oldest and just talking with her. She is usually so busy with school and sports. The last two months are the first time in probably a decade that I'm not running around like a chicken with its head cut off running kids to school and sports events. Drove out of our fishing spot tonight and saw this.....cant believe she will be off to college next year.

Had a good day with my son yesterday. We got all the food plotting done. I find it very satisfying that he is taking interest in learning the land management and how to use the equipment. Here he is planting beans.
The best back straps I have ever had, by far. Marinated in Italian dressing, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic for 12 hours. Cooked on the stove with butter and onions until medium rare. I dont have measurements unfortunately. All I know is that I used more italian dressing than both the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Probably used a cup or 2 of Italian dressing and about 4-5 shakes of each sauce. I also marinated them for quite a while. I'd say damn near 24 hours (our plans to cook them Friday night fell through so I cooked them Saturday morning).
Finally convinced my better 3/4 to let me start looking at properties in Alaska! Jokes on her, I've been looking for well over a year now and have a couple lined up in Anchor Point right along Highway 1, south of Anchorage. Would be nice if that all worked out.
While the wild areas of Alaska are beautiful, anywhere there are people Alaska is pretty red neck, lots of blue tarp roofs and junk piles in the yard.
Down around Anchor Point and Homer seem pretty nice. I have seen what you are referring to though and it's no different than the countryside here. Barely hanging on blue tarp roof and a pile of junk here and there. The appeal of Alaskas hunting, fishing and being so far removed from what has become of society far outweighs having some junk collecting redneck for a neighbor, hell he might complain some flatland okie bought the property next door.
I grew up in British Columbia. I would not hesitate to move to Alaska if the right circumstances played out.
