Yes, yes I do. Right up until my back gets sore, I'm tired of getting up a 4a.m., The weather is nasty and the skeeters, blk flies ,and ticks feast better on me than I will on the bird. Then if he has a tiny brush ,I'm no longer a trophy hunter, but a great caller still.
I like to pretend I do but it's my best friends fav wild game to eat so after the first week in looking to take 2 as I can legally. That's my only restriction.
Just yesterday I was 10 yards from a HUGE turkey. It was just an average hen really. If it had a visible beard I would have picked up my weapon aaaaaand I’m not sure. I’m not desperate for a bird so I’d like to hold out for a big strutting Tom. Stay well Y’all.
Not really... While Id rather shoot a full bearded Tom, I generally put in for draw hunts on state lands which are limited in length (3 days) so IF I get a Jake or adult Tom in range, it's going down ...... I wont be picky ... bow or gun I want breast fillets !!
I hold out for a decent beard for the first week or so, but do want to put one in the smoker by the end of the season. I actually have better luck calling in bigger Tom's after most of the hens are nesting, the first week of the season I seem to call in a lot of Jakes. So...kinda?
