I propose the same approach as I did in 2007-8...no bail outs! I was called barbaric then and stand by the same now. This is the Darwinian-ism of capitalism to me. The weak would die off and be consumed by those with fortress balance sheets. Feel better now?!

I picked up a barrel of .223 a couple years ago after one of the mass shootings and talk of banning guns, etc. It's been sitting in the basement ever since. Damn thing is basically a 2/3rds height 55 gallon drum and weighs like 300 lbs and it has been driving me nuts for years. Its a pain in the ass to move and it never fails to always end up sitting right in front of something I need to get to. Last summer I finally got pissed off and fed up with it and decided I was going to call up some friends one weekend and we were going to go out and have a monster range day and just shoot until it was empty. Fortunately for me I was busy all summer and never got around to doing it and once deer season got here I didn't want to go out and shoot 10,000 rounds at the same place I hunt and scare off every deer within 5 miles. Now that coronavirus is here I am a big fan of that annoying barrel sitting in the basement.
Yeah, not for it, nor am I for the $1000 handout. It's like their trying to push for Bernies campaign to be placed into the stimulous bill.

The minute those checks hit mailboxes there is going to be another run on some random grocery items. I imagine somebody somewhere is going to have $1,000 worth of ramen noodles in their basement or there is going to be something idiotic like a massive cat litter shortage.

I feel like the checks are going to be mostly ineffective. I’m listen to my friends talking about how they are going to spend their $1,000, and I just shake my head. People are talking about buying Tv’s, couches and other crap like that. They don’t even have it yet and they have spent it on worthless stuff. If I’m honest, I’ve had similar thoughts too. My point is, there is no way that government can get money to the people who really need it. so they are just gonna give it to people who either don’t need it, or can’t handle it. What a waste! If you think about it.. Its your money to start with.. They are not handing it out to you like it is a loan, but giving some back they already took from you.....
I know that, and I'm not completely against the idea, I just don't think it can do what they intend it to do at this point in this. On the recovery side? Sure, but we haven't even come close to peaking yet.
Thinking back on this, easy solution. In the envelope with the check is a blue piece of paper and a red piece if paper. If you support Trump take the red, if not take the blue. When you open the chosen paper the red says something to the effect of "Thank you for keeping America great, as a reward here is $×××.×× to spend any way you to choose to help keep our great country great". The blue, "Here is your portion of the payments going out for pain and suffering that may have occured during my 1st term, spend it bigly"
I think that is what they want you to do. If everyone just put it into savings then it doesn't really do anything other than increase the bank's liquidity, and if that was the goal, they could simply give the cash straight to the bank. In theory, if giving everyone an extra $1000 encourages them to go out and buy stuff that they wouldn't have bought otherwise then it'll help keep manufacturers, service industries, and retailers operating and employing people in order to provide those goods and services. Also, since those people that remain employed get to keep earning paychecks they're able to use those paychecks to go out and buy more goods and services, which then creates the need for even more goods and services, and so on, and so on..... I personally think a temporary suspension or reduction to personal income taxes and business' payroll taxes would be a more effective way to accomplish that goal, but the politicians would rather be seen bragging about giving you $1,000 instead of bragging about not taking 1,000 of your dollars.
What about AOC's groups idea. Suspend all payments for 6 months and give everyone $2,000 a month during that time.
