The key to using that technique for fat loss is to follow up the intensity with some really easy long duration cardio. When time allows, plan on doing a full hour with the remaining time spent doing light cardio. It can be as easy as walking, as long as it fills out at least an hour.

I like it. I was going to do that today but I knew I was going to kayak 4 to 5 miles tomorrow and also walk about the same. Didnt want to be exhausted. But I hear you, on most high intensity days I will follow that suggestion to burn that fat.

This week has messed up my workout plans. I was off on Monday for President's Day so I did the Monday lift yesterday. Today I did the Wednesday sprints and 40 minutes of my weekly hike today. I am taking tomorrow off to stay home with my son who has the flu since my wife has to work tomorrow. Hopefully, I will be back in the routine Friday if I do not get sick.

I wish our gym had a ski erg, but the rower worked.

My warm up was stretching, 100cal on a treadmill with about 8% incline, followed by 500' on the Jacob's ladder (stairclimbers were occupied). I need to use the Jacob's ladder more...

Was just looking for some variety today.

Been hitting it hard. This morning I ran a couple miles and now it's time for food prep for a few days. I'm trying to get the darn salt out of my diet. Will do a short 15min workout strength workout tonight. 20200223_100456.jpg

Fwiw Herbs, spices or citrus zest are good foils to help add seasoning but cut salt.

Good to see you guys getting after it. I’ve been upping my cardio toying with the idea of running the 10 miler again. Ran 5 yesterday and my knees felt pretty good. Still lifting, but been struggling with boredom. Toying with the idea a running a “savage race” to stay motivated.

    stay after it!

I got back on the fitness train about two weeks ago. I use the app Macrostax for diet. I am always full, but eating based on macros and working out three times a week doing CrossFit. I am down 9 pounds in 10 days (from 194 to 185) and have had zero cravings for food. I cut out alcohol for the most part and added one interval cardio workout and one long steady cardio workout to help muscle recovery. The most noteable thing for me is the fact that I am sleeping like a baby. Better sleep than I have had for a very long time.

    One recipe that I love and will share that makes what I think are great pancakes. This is based on my macros, so amount may vary;

1/2 cup of Gerber Oatmeal Cereal for Baby (Single Grain) the baby oatmeal is finely ground and found near baby foods
5 ounces of liquid egg whites
    13 grams of banana

Just 3 ingredients, mix them together to form a batter and fry in a lightly greased or non-stick pan just like any pancake. That amount makes one huge pancake that is almost a meal in itself for me. I use a very small amount of real maple syrup, but you could top with berries and nuts or whatever fits your diet.

Another favorite meal that fits my macros is grilled chicken, cashews in dirty rice and Fuji apples sliced.

If you have never messed around with a diet based strictly on macros, I highly recommend trying it. My wife has been doing it for a while and has had tremendous results. We spend Sunday afternoons prepping food for the week.

For that recipe; 22.7g Carb, 2g Fat, 19.5g Prot. I am going by what "My Fitness Pal" figured for those amounts. It is another good app to use in conjunction with Macrostax. Honestly, I have eaten those pancakes nearly every day for two weeks now and still look forward to that meal.

Good deal thanks. Yes I use MFP. I have been counting macros/calorie for over ten years. It’s the only way to go for me.

I'm going to be working out at home for a bit. I did push ups for 20 minutes and sit ups for 20 minutes last night then ran 3 miles. Not very original but I'll work on that. Pull up bar came today so I be mixing that in as well.

    Stay after it!

You guys without gyms now and nothing to use at home need to look at the TRX system. You can get a great, whole body workout with one and with the system and hanger, you probably have less than $150 in it. I put one in our home gym and use it all the time. Look up some videos on YouTube and see what you think.
