So for 2019 me and my group of guys (northeast Ohio) wanted to start testing the waters of public land bow hunts. We decided to hit Indiana last year as our first attempt, and it didn’t disappoint. We had a blast. My buddy killed a mature buck on the first day and the rest of us all had encounters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats on the buck! I have also been doing my research on an IN public land hunt, more SW in the Morgan Mornoe area. Any helpful info?
This was our first and our knowledge is limited to what we found. We’re going to keep building on it every year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I live close to Bloomington. Shoot me a message, I'd be happy to give you some intel on some other areas nearby.
Goosepond is a good resource! He has better smallmouth spots than hunting spots I can assure you - I mean that with the up-most respect! ha. I would highly encourage anyone to check out Wabashiki https://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/6188.htm along the Wabash River cooridor - basically your hunting a blend between IL deer / IN deer and riverbottom deer. Nothing can go wrong! If you've got access to a boat even better as some really sweet areas are difficult to get back to without an ATV or boat. It's not much for scenic as a lot of this is riverbottoms but the quality is pretty decent in this area.
ATV is NOT an option. Misinformed my bad - they have rules against them. So foot, bike or boat are your only hope.
Sycamore, that is some ugly looking country! Never hunted it, but drive by it all the time. If I recall, there’s some DNR land some on 63. Thought I remembered seeing it while I was helping my brother farm.
We had to use a sled to drag a buck 600 yards last year...worth it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah they’re is quite a bit in Vigo/Clay County area. Some of i-70 too that you can see from the road on the Vigo/Clay line. But you get back in that Wabashiki area it’s pretty nasty river bottoms stuff. It’s not going to be the most scenic hunt but you will see lots of wildlife.
