Hey folks, I am considering a little filming this next season. I will probably be filming and documenting at first and working my way up to the moment of truth. Are there any tips for the cold? I am not sure if there are any effects on the camera, battery, or lens in say, under 30 weather. It may seem silly but I've never ran a camera in colder weather. Thanks in advance.
Batteries will certainly drain faster in colder weather. a lil trick is to stick a couple hand warmers on the battery. Taking a camera in from a warm toasty house out into the cold will sometimes make the lens fog. If you can put the camera somewhere colder over night, it helps acclimate it and not get that initial shock to the lens.

Filming in the cold sucks but it’s also when some of the best action occurs. We’re always filming in January in Ohio with temps in the teens and we do okay, the newer cameras and batteries do pretty well. Have replacement GoPro batteries because they drain QUICK. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks. I’m in western pa and most years it can get cold. This year felt like fall all winter. I appreciate the testament to the abilities of the newer equipment. Good advice here. One never has to many charged batteries. IMHO, one of the best things for photography is the memory card. .
