Never is a long time. Wilbur Wright once predicted it would take 50 years before man could fly. They did it two years later. The “horseless carriage” was thought to be fad and a toy for the rich.
The rise of personal computers, cell phones, smart phones....all happened in my lifetime. It’s hard to even remember what it was like before.
Even if we just look at Agriculture, the technology over the last 50 years is pretty incredible. Tractors practically drive themselves with gps. There are sprayers that automatically adjust the output of chemicals based on the soil conditions in that exact part of the field. Pretty cool stuff in my opinion.

Quite the opposite, I am quite the professional. One of the keys to being successful as a professional in being smart enough to network with others in their fields of expertise rather than being the person who makes up bullshit. My only point was, and continues to be, that my scientific community is far larger and more educated than the questionable at best science that is going into manufacturing meat in a petri dish in a lab. Perhaps there is a need to reevaluate what resources will be used to feed people. However, you will never convince anyone around here of the need for that or the need to do something to help farmers with the condescending attitude you have displayed. Newbies around here that behave as you are tend not to make it very long.

@tmead just out of curiosity, have you invested heavily in the lab grown meat sector? I just find it a little odd that you have choosen to defend something that is obviously not going to get any traction here on the bowhunting forum. Good for scientist's, I applaud them for such a development. But if the true concern was feeding the masses it will not be done with lab grown meat or its distant partner, vegetable goo impossible meat.

Seems like most restaurants have a meatless burger on the menu, every time I see it I think I see the me too crowd has struck again.

Same here and generally at least 30-40% higher cost than a real meat burger. Bc you know restaurants know how to spot a sucker.

Oh man, I want in on this. I would buy lab grown meat with a side of gluten free bread and dehydrated water..., Mmmmmm and then maybe shoot a crossbow from a saddle. Then claim team 13 didn't just get lucky. Then claim I've killed thousand bears. School y'all on how to run a successful thread in AT. Then.... Idk .... Ride a few BHOD sacks

Send me a copy of the research (yours or your co workers) that explains why a genetically identical item is not fit for human consumption.

The claim was made it was not fit for human consumption. The claim was made that his work experience with many “professionals” backed this up. If so, it should be pretty easy to do.

No scared, but asking for research data for your review makes you one of "those guys". You need to go chat with Germ.

When did I claim that I personally did research in this area? I didn't. I specifically said that I worked with people and networked with people who did this stuff. Again, part of being professional is knowing when to default to the knowledge of others. When experts in this area, who have dedicated their professional careers to understanding nutrition, genetics, and many other medical sciences fields speak, I listen. There is nothing that can be said that will change my mind; I find the prospect of lab-grown "meat" to be abhorrent to natural sources of food. It the very thought that someone would do this and think that something good has been accomplished disgusts me.

I will never knowingly put this in my body. I would imagine that just about everyone around here feels that same. Just because science has figured out that it could do something does not mean that it should.

Not sure yet. But, he may take the Mead part of his username too seriously. Perhaps hourly even.
