When ever I want to piss my wife off I tell her that I grabbed a pair of socks out of the drawer this morning and one of the socks were inside out. She will lose her ****, it took me years to convince her to just wash the damn socks instead of her being pissed about having to turn them right side out.
Well, If you would turn them right side out after taking them off and/or before putting them in the laundry.....
Logically if the goal is to wash the sock and get it as clean as possible it makes more sense to wash them inside out.

I agree in most situations - inside out gets the foot stink out better, but if I’ve been hiking through brush, weedwhackering, using a chainsawing, etc I like to go right side out so that it gets all the crumbs and splinters and crap that gets in your boots out better.
Saw chaps work wonders for keeping that crap off of a guy. Hell, the wife kept stealing mine to do that kind of work, I got her a pair for her own use. Now I don't have to readjust mine each time I wear them.
From years of wearing cotton inside of wool in a pair of boots working fire the inner side of the sock needs to be cleaned more than the outside. Plus does it matter when the sock is turned right side out?
