VXR is in and shooting like a dream.

Just picked up my VXR on Wednesday. Paper tuned it and shooting great. Moved up from a triax. Very happy with the longer ATA

 

I shot one at the bow shop and I must say I was impressed. Love the army green as well

 

I picked up the 31.5. Really impressed with mine.

 

how would you compare it to a Halon?
significantly smoother?

 

Yes, I would say so.. to me the draw cycle was the biggest thing to get used to but that was coming directly from my triax. Comparing to Halon though, I would say it is definitely smoother, quieter and for me a steadier hold.

I just pulled the trigger on the VXR 28 last week. It came in yesterday. Going to get it all set up this weekend hopefully. I had the Halon 6 and then went to a Hoyt Carbon Defiant and now going back to Mathews. I should have never gotten rid of my halon but the VXR was unreal when I shot it last week. Shot the new Hoyt Carbon but didn't like it. Had a lot of vibration after the shot and hand shock.

 

I went with the 31.5". I loved the 28" as well. I still have my Halon 7 as well.

 

Yeah I wish I had my Halon still. I didn't shoot the 31.5 cause I am short and smaller framed. I like the short ata bows but I couldn't believe how good the VXR held at full draw. I could hold it back all day and it was so easy to hold on target. I can't wait to get mine all set up. Taking it to Nebraska in March for the first week of Turkey Season there.

 

This past Saturday, I got the opportunity to shoot both the 28 and 31.5 VXR bows. Both shoot great and were very quite and had zero vibration. There was also no detectable hand jump. I'm looking to replace my current box this off season and trying to determine which bow to get. I think I would really enjoy shooting either bow. I have a 29inch draw and my current bow has a 31" ATA with a 7" brace height. I hunt mainly from Summit Viper and different ladder stands. Both bows seem to shot like longer ATA bows. My hunting partner (who has been bow hunting for many more years than I have and has a slightly longer draw than I do) said if it was him, he would get the VRX 28 due to the way we hunt. The bows I shot were both set to 60lb pull, but the draw length was a little short at 28". I think before I decide which bow, I'm going to get the tech to set the bows up more like my current bow (29" draw and 65lb). I have to admit the draw cycle on both of these bows was so smooth that the 60lb draw felt much lighter. Do really think I could go wrong with either bow.

 

I def think the 28 will be better w/ the Summit. I don't think it will make a difference on the ladders. I hunt ladders, lock ons, and w/ a summit viper.
