Snow season is upon us and there are things I'd much rather be doing but sometimes we have to deal with snow. How do you deal with it?

Although I have two snow blowers, a big two stage and a smaller single stage, I do not use them anymore. Now days my go to weapons are a 3500 Ram dump truck with a 9.5' Western V-plow and a New Holland tractor with a 7 foot 3 way hydraulic rear blade. For going over gravel I have a slotted pipe over the cutting edge of the blade. It works great. Pics below.

    Used in this order.

    Honda Pioneer w/5' blade.
    8n Ford w/5' back blade.
    John Deere 2720 w/5' blade.
    856 International w/8' bucket.

If the 100 HP tractor can't do it...… I'm staying home.

Depending on the amount and wetness of the snow:

    Shovel
    28" Cub Cadet snow blower
    Bobact S750 skid loader
JD 5425 with 8' snow bucket
JD 7330 with 8' snow blower

Does the phrase, "YOU SUCK" mean anything to you?

Dont have a pic of it but I use a 500,000 btu roofing torch. Sounds like a jet engine and clears what little bit of snow Oklahoma receives once a year. Plus, it gives the neighbors something to scratch their heads about. They already think I'm nucking futs so me out in the driveway with that torch just kinda seals the deal.

I always thought it would be a pain in the butt to have to be in reverse to blow snow with a big tractor.

When the kids were home and had their cars and they had to get out of the driveway for school I would take the pick up truck down the driveway blow thru the snow pile from the plow at the end of the drive way, then drive back down the drive way and fire up my sons saturn and make another pass with that, after the saturn got that the daughters toyota had no problem getting out. Driveway was usually plowed before they got home from school.

It's not ideal by any means, especially in and around the yard with all of the buildings. Your comment made me realize I missed the #1 snow moving equipment on our farm. JD 5425 loader. That does 95% of it. We mainly use the snow blower to straighten out the driveway and move snow away from the cattle gates as far away as possible after a huge snow.

I will admit I have turned into a slack ass about shoveling the side walk steps this winter. Traction grit is pretty cheap.

Oh, growing up in upstate NY, I'm aware, quite aware. The fact I keep working on projects 'up North' a constant reminder. No regrets!

Great snow weapons every one........... except OND. That would be a hell no for me. I don't mind shoveling a walk or deck but not a whole long driveway.

I kind of figured that Greatwhitehunter3 would have some awesome equipment....... an 8 foot snowblower...... oh yeah.

Okiebob, a flame thrower? That's cool, I'd give it a shot.

The skid steer is a good one also. Very maneuverable.

They make front mount blowers for tractors also. They are quite expensive. The rear ones may be a bit of a pain but they can really save the day in deep snow when you have no more room to push it.

I have a longer driveway too. Last year I was using a rear blade setup as well but found I was tearing the driveway up a bit. This year I got a plow setup for the ranger and it works great.
