Last night I saw 15 does. 12 of them fed 30 yards from my truck - should have sat in it!

This morning I saw some does and 2 little bucks. Both came in and made a rub. Headed in shortly. 20191227_084706.jpg

So change of plans, climbed down and took a look at what might be going on. Turns out they took down the entire highline, think they were pulling the power poles.

This is the same lines last year from my bucks bed, so no small feat. Thinking about it, the private road/drive and along every road around here are small orange flags and this morning noticed tubing or large conduit. Think they are burying the entire grid out here.

So I moved to the opposite end hoping for aome late travelers. 3 more scrapes being well used still on this side. I'm here, why ot make the most of it. Wind is calm now, any given Friday right?

    Better signal here as well

They may be going back with a bigger steel line instead of the wood. We usually don't give up areas where transmission lines run. They're hard to come by.

Would they take the entire thing out before putting in place the new line? It's weird, the second set of poles in the center of picture are on the backside of this property. I came here to see if they cleared all the thick and nasty stuff in the right of way, it hasn't been disturbed at all but the poles are gone. No clue how they pulled them??

Here we go! Headed down to public I was at last Sunday. Conditions are a little better. Supposed to have a NE wind. It’s 39 degrees now. Rising pressure 30.32. I’m putting on the chest waders and going deep. A lot of flooded swamp that’s on the north end of a huge lake. Found huge buck beds in there last year.

Whether or not they are replacing or removing the highlines I'm not sure, but they're definitely burying the power grid. I'm kinda shocked by it, but glad they are. Shocked because it is so rural out there and glad because when they do lose power the sinplest of outages can take days to get fixed.

All the tubing/conduit I mentioned laying along the field edges of the road was buried by the time I left. Definitely not your typically state workers out there, pretty impressive speed.

Was going to take a pic of the tubing ut this is all there was

You guys have any interest in a 2020 scouting thread? We could post pics, maps, and strategy from which to draw knowledge.

Or we could just keep it on here....lol. But I like a specialized thread instead of sifting through other stuff.

Build it and they will come.....

Think you'll be surprised at how popular it will be.

I need to figure out how to go about improving the property the way my uncle used to. Keeping areas kempt and such.

Don't really want to buy a brush cutter and not sure I want to rent one and have to buy it or pay for damages.

Was surprised at the activity on the scrapes, didn't get the ones from my 1st stand. Took these on the way out.

Then at first thought a bedded deer, then figured too much belly to be bedded, figured dead from a bad hit. Then as I approached thought it was a log from a sycamore, but no sycamores around.

    20191227_103613.jpg

Finally got to within about 8 feet and seen holes. Someone stashed a decoy in the bushes

So all in all, it was good to get back out just sucks so much was going on recently on that end of the property and probably had the deer way off pattern, especially in the mornings.

Not sure if I'll get back out again, will take some special weather like snow to do it, but think I killed any further snow chances when I got back home

It is private, but I'm certain it is one of the others that hunt there. Probably had it out during shotgun season or things were still leafed out enough the only two other times I sat that corner I missed it both times.

Thankfully trespassing isn't a problem, just hope it stays that way.

Earlier in the year one of them text me asking if I had a stand up out there. Told him where it was and had been there since 2011 amd that I had a seen a climber left at the base if a tree. Thought he was talking about the climber, but it was his. He seen my ambush stand while in the climber.

In and finally set. Took awhile. Couldn’t get back to where I wanted to cause of water level. Found some decent sign though. We will see

Should be close to bedding. Think they are on the dry humps in all this flooded swamp. I’m on an edge with heavy trails all around me. Let’s punch some tags tonight boys...
