I decided I need to buy an inverter to have on hand so I can run my corn stove if the power goes out. The amp draw of the stove is about 8 amps. I figure I can use my trolling motor deep cycle battery.

What about a battery tender or a charger that has a float setting?

I will use the deep cycle to power the inverter to power the stove if the power goes out.

Oops I misread the problem. The inverter went out on my park model trailer in the dead of winter one time and I used a battery charger to power all the 12v things until spring when it warmed up.

That's when I found out that even though my furnace ran on 120 volts it's control ran on 12v.

Yeah if the power goes out I have no heat so even though I have never lost power in the winter, fate favors the prepared.

One deep cycle battery won’t run an 8amp 120v load very long. You would probably need a 1500 to 2000 watt inverter. An 8 amp 120 v load = an 80 amp 12v load. Check your battery’s amp hour rating. The heater won’t run continuously but will use the power.

Considering I have never lost power 2-3 hours should be ok.
