Awesome!!! Congrats! I’m after a big boy that just showed back up. Hopefully he will slip up in daylight by end of year. If he sticks around I’ll stay after him the rest of the month Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thanks guys! Here are a couple more pics of him. He didn't score very high, but I'm more than happy with him.
It’s been fun season here since the Saturday after thanksgiving. I’ve been trying to get some action with that but all the deer have gone into the corn like a black hole and only been nocturnal. Rain and snow this week should get them moving again but who knows with the standing corn still up. Good thing is we have the only major food left within a large area so the deer are there, we just may need to be patient. Luckily archery goes until the end of January so I’ll be out looking for a late season buck. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It looks like we still need Jonathan to enter his buck into the scorecard. Once he gets his entered, we should be in 2nd. Good luck to you guys still after points!
I’m still out here trying to grab put meat in the freezer Looking for doe or buck at this point Sent using Smoke Signals
Well, we've cracked the Top 5, boys! One more good buck could push us over the top. Who's it gonna be?? My IL buck ended up scoring 125 on the money. He suffered mightily from lack of tine length and had shorter beams than I thought (22") but was just a hair over 19 inches wide. He's currently at the taxidermist and should look pretty good when it's all said and done. My Wyo buck is getting euro mounted and my son wants to put it in his room. My wife loved that idea.
January is back on doe patrol. I might get lucky once the corn comes down and catch a buck coming in for a snack in the bitter cold of January. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I wish we would get some bitter cold. The 10 day forecast is for above-average temps, which doesn't make for the best late-season hunting.
I’m back! Sorry for the lack of participation, work and family have kept me busy as Shhh these past couple weeks. I went out for the first time this evening in almost two weeks, saw 5 doe tonight and that damn black cat. I did a quick after work ground sit and had two doe walking to me, remember that black cat? Well, I move my foot and step right on my overpriced Mathews quiver cracking part of it...the doe wanted nothing to do with that and skedaddled off into the sunset. I don’t believe in superstition, but every time that cat has crossed my path, something goes wrong I have two cameras out I need to check, hopefully the bucks are still roaming in daylight. I’m going to hit it this week and weekend hoping to fill a buck tag. I still have an Illinois tag I need to use, trying to get that worked out as well. There’s still hope!
Still on a couple good ones. Nocturnal. -17 w windchill this am. Out xmas shopping with the wife today. Brutal. Wish I could get out this pm. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon. Brought my one of daughters on each of the past 3 hunts. Saw 2 little does last pm. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That's an awesome buck, congrats. I'm trying to get out of this prison aka work and get to the woods. I don't think I've ever hunted this late in the season, I'm a little out of my element. Usually I have my 2-3 deer by thanksgiving and I just come out to sit and watch, I need to check cameras and try to get on a buck.
i got the OK from the wife to get out on new years day for an evening hunt in MD, hoping to drop a doe maybe 2 if i am lucky!!
No luck this week. Had the bow w/ me a couple of afternoons. Season ends the 31st, so I have a few more sits left. Merry Christmas everyone! Have a safe and fun holiday!
I have only been out a handful of times since I killed my buck. I have passed on a few on public land that I probably would have shot had I not already tagged one. The deer are still rutting pretty good here too. My buddy that invited me, took his stepson last night. He ended up getting his first deer, and man was it a heck of a first deer.
