I’m pulling 37.7lbs, shooting gold tip arrows, slick trick broad heads. Speed is 209, still working to increase the pounds, I’m getting there, just the let off isn’t till about at my ear, obsession turmoil RZ.
Buck sighting from the stand at my place this afternoon, the wife's nephew saw a 5 point. Friday is my day but honestly I would rather see my son shoot a buck Saturday. His first and last season deer hunting on the ranch, hell I would even pay for the mount.
From what I’ve been told it’s the cams, my draw length is pretty short 24.5. Obsession built it with short draw, they had my length. Hope to i crease the pounds by spring.
corner of mouth. Guys at local shop say I’m holding, anchoring fine, just the let off point on bow. cold front this morning heading out to see what I can see!
Yea there are some monsters running around the general area, I just need one to come by exploring when im in the stand!
I have been struggling quite a bit as well in the northern part of Illinois (Chain O Lakes Area) Last year I was out a bunch and saw them but never close enough to shoot. This year I have only seen one. Its not looking good. I did go down to southern Illinois (Marion) They are everywhere down there. But as far as around my home town unless you have a farm or a private place to go. It seems very scarce. Good luck out there.
so from what I can tell is they are coming out more and more at night. I see them on the cams I have set up but it is always more night time or sundown. Lots of does though.
Im having a tough season as well!! only 2 does and saw bucks that are shooters just not close enough! I haven't even picked up the bow off the bow holder in the tree in a month!
Weird year here. Probably seen more big bucks then ever but too get one in range has been tough!! I HATE ending the season with a tag in my pocket but with the cold/ snow, I'm about ready to call defeat.
I've had a weird season as well. The rut was completely nocturnal in my area this year. Zero good bucks seen from the stand this year, and not even many does. One fork horn is the only buck. Pretty sad. Making one last chance effort to fill my tag this Saturday, there is a late archery only season in a unit a couple hours from me. Never hunted it, but the deer up there migrate this time of year heading for lower ground and I hear if you catch it right you can see up to 100 deer an hour if you position yourself correctly. Tag is good for buck or doe. The deer move all day, so going to get there at daylight and scout for a migration trail showing fresh sign and then put up the ground blind on one. Be a fun learning experience if nothing else.
I hunted Kansas 21-26 Oct and 04-09 Nov. I saw deer every sit but 05 Nov, not a single animal. Then on 06 Nov I killed the biggest buck of my life. Hunting Louisiana where I live not having much luck. All does and fawns. The four bucks I had on camera disappeared about a month ago. Still keeping after it though.
I'm far from complaining as I've had an amazing year by most standards and I'm very happy with things at this point. However, I was 2 shots away from having a "best year ever". Missed a 140" in Iowa when my arrow blew up, then missed a chip shot at a big mature deer in Wyoming before shooting a smaller one. It was "this close" to having 3 big bucks on the ground in 3 different states and 1 tag still in my pocket. However, if the season ended today I would be more than happy with it. 2 does and 2 bucks is nothing to complain about.
Well, Wyoming was a bust, but Illinois has been good. Lost count of the deer I’ve seen. Took a small button buck earlier, thought it was a doe. Tagged a dandy 11 pt the grossed 160 2/8 two days after gun season. Headed out tomorrow to bow hunt with the orange army. The absolute best thing about this year has been that I’m retired! I can hunt any day any time any where I want to.
