It was a Doe show today. Saw 14 total. Zero bucks. I think they are all pushed on the property from gun season last weekend.

I’m still in the tree, no idea why, have not seen a thing all day. Have about 2.5hrs of daylight left.

Good luck all who are out! I'm headed back tomorrow to some simply lovely mid-Missouri weather, so I'm not sure I'll hunt much. Maybe Sunday morning if it isn't too crazy. Maybe all day if I'm feeling crazy. Need some deer killin tree time.

    Dang it.

I knocked my quiver off its hook and it fell to the ground. Had to climb all the way down to get it.

    I hate when that happens.

Finally back in a tree! It feels great!...even though this is kind of a sad sit. Probably my last sit in my favorite place in the world. My dad is selling the farm. This is where I learned to hunt growing up. Can’t tell you how many memories I’ve had in this place. Oh well. Must move on. If it’s brown, it’s down! Good luck to everyone who is out! Let’s go!!!!

Had to change plans on the fly, running late no way I was gonna get to my normal area before dusk so I made a detour/pit stop to a little public area halfway. Hunted this game area a couple times in the past. Got my Ruger .44 carbine in hand (restricted straight wall/shotgun.area)

Got an empty freezer so anything with 3" bone on its head within 125 yards is in deep doo doo

Tomorrow I'll be further north in the rifle zone w the .35 Remmy then Sunday it's my last sit of the season with the crossgun- all weapons hot

    Good luck all

Literally as i clicked "post" someone about 2-300 yards away cut loose with a boom. Sounded awful close to my truck. Hope nobody saw my FIB plates and decided to avenge the Lions
...I really need to slap a Red Wings sticker on the back window to show I'm an ex pat

    Nothing for me tonight.

I did want to show some pics from the two explosions that pictures occurred at that plant. It rocked homes, blew out windows, blew open doors that were deadbolted etc. I felt the explosion some 7-10 miles away at my house.

Another bust today. This is getting old, and I'm not getting any younger. When I sit for hours and see no deer, I can't help but think of the Genesis song Man on the Corner...

See the lonely man there on the corner,
    What he's waiting for, I don't know,
But he waits every day now,
He's just waiting for something to show.

Nothing this evening. Fawn was in range at 40yds and then 6 Does about 200yds. That's it! Cams are only showing one daylight 8pt on the 23rd. I'm done with the county park. Gonna hunt the rest of the weekend at the new farm. Cant be any worse then what I've been doing.

    Oops. Forgot to update.

I ended up seeing two deer and both were bucks. The first one was probably legal (legal here is 12" inside spread OR 15" main beam) but the second one was a big one. They were traveling 60 yards away though so I couldn't tell exactly what he had for headgear.

Now I am trying to decide whether to move closer or stay put.

I know how this goes. If I move to within bow range of that trail they'll walk right by the tree I was in today.

    I love this game.

I should be here until Thursday or Friday depending on the weather.

If you're not too far away from Wattensaw when you get back you should stop by the cabin here.

    You too Cantexian. :tu:
