A bad day bowhunting is better than a good day cleaning the house

    Good luck out there Y’all.

I'll be doing an evening hunt today and tomorrow, despite not seeing ANYTHING on my last four sits. At least that wind has subsided! I just can't give up on killing a buck.

Saw one little buck. Pretty slow. Think evenings right now back on food is probably the best bet. Think they are in full recovery mode here

Only deer I saw was in the cardboard box that I picked up from the butcher. Won’t be in the stand for the pm hunt decided to join the chaos and head to town to try to get a good deal on some broad heads and whatever else I don’t need. Good luck. I’ll be back in the stand tomorrow.

Absolute perfect morning today. Light wind, cool but not cold, no other huntersand took 2 hours 45 minutes to see 2 deer and nothing after. Adult doe and fawn came in supposedly upwind but could feel the wind blowing right to them. Adult die shoves her head straight up in the air and they turn around and trot off.

    Nothing after.

Most exciting part of my hunt was the stare down. Stood up and took a leak about 20 minutes after seeing the 2 does. Looked around before sitting back down and seen a deer about 60yds standing head on facing me to my north. I froze and figured with the swirling winds it may not wind me. Sat there having a stare off for about a minute when I realized it was a coyote, I'll shoot that too.

So sit there for another minute or so waiting for it to turn and bolt or walk off and grew impatient. Slowly started to sit down as its head turned into a cluster of leaves and what I thought was its body was nothing but a dark tree trunk about 30yds beyond the leaf cluster

Called it a day at 9:30

I'm in and on the ground. Deer will come from behind me. I'm sitting on a stool on an elevate point that sticks into the corn. Bushes all around me. Doe parade should start about 1600 and last till end of shooting. Does are on the menu as are and 100" bucks that stroll through.

Rain the rest of the weekend so done for atleast this weekend. Next weekend is 2nd firearm season here, not sure if I'll be going, I'll be taking the shotgun if I do. Just depends on how many others will be hunting. If no one else is I will take the bow, but if everyone is I'll likely just sit it out and eat the firearm tags.

Got up this morning, finished loading and headed out for Arkansas.

I stopped at Pocahontas, AR, bought my non-resident tags and got to the club cabin at 11:00.

I'm all set up in a new spot in Wattensaw WMA.

    Let's see what happens. IMG_3683.jpg
