If someone paid your way, do you go to Africa for the Big five and a few others or North American Super Slam? I think I will take the Slam...although Africa would be a once in a lifetime trip

I only want to hunt whitetail deer. I do not understand the whole Africa thing.

I have no interest in hunting Africa as it would be too much of a pain to get meat home. If I lived there, I would probably feel the same about hunting North America. I will take the North American species.

both are on my bucket list. one of my coworkers just got back from Africa and harvested 7 species. as we all know you can't bring the meat home. all of his meat that they did not eat was given to a local tribe.

That is pretty much the rule now. Plus, after the fiasco of the guy shooting the lion that wandered off the game preserve, several airlines refuse to transport trophies now. The thing about Africa is the Big Five can put a new part in your hair, if you still have a head. Read Peter Hathaway Capstick's book, Death in the Long Grass. Hunting the Big Five is like crossing I-285 in Atlanta at rush hour.

I am pretty close to an archery super ten. Not far from a caribou slam, and deer away from a deer slam. I stopped dreaming and started doing years ago. I checked bunch of hunts off my list however the more I check off more i put back on. I am glad I started young.
I will get to Africa for right hunt as soon as I see it offered, I dont want to sit on my ass in blind over water and bait, so if it isn't spot and stalk I have no interest. So for now it's all of North America

I'll stay in the US and kill a pile of critters before I venture to Africa to do it.

I would like to try elk, caribou, and moose. anything else I will pass. I don't think I want to mess with bears, mt lions, sheep, or goats. I certainly don't want to tangle with cape buffalo, lions, or hippos!

Africa is a great trip. Always wanted a kudu and a sable. Hated not being able to bring home any meat but it didn’t go to waste.

    NASS without hesitation.
If I ever complete that then I'll think about leaving the western hemisphere to kill stuff.

We did a job for guys hunting cabin earlier this fall that has went to Africa. It was pretty cool talking about it and seeing his trophies but don't think I'd ever make the trip. Think he had like 8 or 10 different animals he killed and it all sounded good but for the money he spent theres plenty of animals her in N America I'd rather go after.

If you divide the cost per animal Africa is cheap compared to most North America hunts.

It was a once in a lifetime trip for the wife and I. We spent 7 days in the bush and 4 in Jberg. The whole trip with taxidermy and shipping was less a a Yukon moose hunt.

Probably North America. But I wouldn’t turn my nose down at some African game either.
