She's a BIG ***** and was as cagey as an old buck.
Some folks don't give ( older does) the credit they deserve.
A 5 year old doe is every bit as smart as a 5 year old buck ( maybe moreso)?
This season is kicking my tail team!
I can't remember a year in the past 40 where there have been SO many great bucks around and I can't buy one?
Well, I did have a chip shot on a dandy but:violin:

Nice man. I come from a long line of German butchers. Used to be a lot more active but with the new house build and a storm year I'm having to back off. However, I have six nice 20' oak logs curing out to be 2" roughcut and my new smokehouse. To top it off, I will have enough room to set up all my butcher equipment, bandsaw, 350# mixer, commercial grinder and sausage stuffer. I've been pricing out walk in coolers bc like you said, meat hooks are awesome. I'm thinking about making a go at it and just kicking out bacon, hams and sausage. Old school stuff. I do a pretty mean braunschweiger.

Sounds about like my set up. I often think about setting up a little shop and opening like 3 days week. However I really don't want anything else tying me to NY. I would like to sell my house and properties and move.

Talked to a local farmer today. He asked if I would shoot some coyotes. Sure. Went to his farm (160) acres to check for sign. Found fox/ bobcat tracks but no coyotes.
This is a fairly remote place. In the woods there is a superb hidden GEM! A small Grove of WHITE cedar trees!
Thery were this years rubs on trees 8-12 inches. I mean ripped up!. I got immediate wood:cool:

Drove back to his place and asked him if I could bowhunt, go right ahead he said:rock:.
I than went and pulled a ladderstand from a tree that's been a dead spot this year and went and hung it up.
Took a bit but it's now hanging in a great spot. Only thing is, I think I may be a bit to too late in the year for it to produce? 2 weeks ago it would have been on fire.
He rifle hunted it and seen about 70 deer one eve.
There were/ still are several awesome bucks living that made it through the rifle season within a mile.

" I like big- ripped- up wood and I cannot lie":woot:

Did not bowhunt today. Went calling coyotes instead. Horrible except for one stand. 3 came in, 2 hit the turf.

Hey fellas, I have stepped away from deer hunting this season to get caught up at work. I'll be back at asap. It's been a weird year for me, being a roofing salesman I'm not the most popular guy until the beginning of November and then all the sudden everyone wants a new roof regardless of the fact that I've been trying to roof them all summer, you know, when you roof.. Anyway, checked cameras the other day and still have a couple of good bucks so hopefully I can put an arrow through one soon. Resized_DSCF0007_63535475725188.jpeg

Well fellas, I'm burnt out for the year.
We've had some cold- ass temps and I'm at the stage in my life I don't really want to do that anymore. Ain't copping out on you guys yet but my tank is running dry.
My best spots are now devoid of deer ( they migrate) when the snow comes and temps drop.
I do stilll have a tag and ( may) sit again if things pick up but for now, it may be deer drives if I can get a few guys together for it.

Really nice! Wish Oklahoma would get snow like that more often but then again a dusting shuts this state down.

Well chit. Went into a new stand. Tracks , EVERYWHERE!!
    Damn near got wood.!
. Was in a huge burr oak in a clearing. I normally hunt thick cover but this tree was in such a super spot.
Wasn't dressed proper for the conditions but noticed from the tree the deer had a major path near an old farm building. I bailed outta the tree because I knew I would not last till dark.
Went into the building. Scrapes n rubs within 25 yards.
Actually though it was a great spot.
    Never seen a deer.
This year is kicking my ass!!

Well guys, tonight " may" be my last sit for the year.
Starting tomorrow, temps are gonna nosedive. 15 day outlook looks to cold for me to enjoy sitting.
    Going in a stand soon.
