Well, I'm out. No bucks tonight, not even the dinks. 9 does in front of me for 45 minutes. I am seriously questioning not only my sanity but if the rut is really on. Pathetic if it is.

Well, I saw nothing except a few squirrels. I'll give my home spot a few more sits to see if there's any movement. If not I'll either head to Kentucky or back to Mark Twain National Forest.

That didn't go well. Had 2 more does come in about 20 minutes before dark. About 15 minutes later the big one walks right up to my tree about 10 yards. She's broadside and I take the shoot. After that I don't know what happen, think I hit a branch I couldn't see because of low light. She tares out like she is hit and I watch he for 80 yards. Get down and check arrow. Nothing but fat on whole arrow and white hair. Find blood and it's easy to follow for 20 yards. Then the next 20 yards is just pin drops. After lost blood, Just follow tracks down to marsh and no more blood and impossible to follow in the water. I grid search for a hour and can't find a thing. This sucks!

I did watch that video the other day. It sends a great message. This isn't going to slow me down, but push me harder. Being such low light, I shouldn't have taken that shot. The second I picked up that arrow I knew I hit brisket. No chance of finding her, but I gave it my best shot.

One more grueling day at work.

A new part they were "supposed" to run last week on my vacation miraculously got done on Monday and headed to me my first day back. What a coincidence

Sucks though, because the entire program needs to be proven out and every dimension and code has to be correct.

Long story short, I have been on my feet all day every day this week and my ripe old age of 45 is feeling every bit of 82.

It is for reasons like this that I decided to buy a 4 wheeler earlier this year.

Anyhow, I'll be hunting the second sunrise from this evening. Hoping to sit the same stand I keeled my bow buck, if people hunt smart some good bucks can be had. If you're shooting the first button buck that appears 3 minutes into season things are likely not going to play out in your favor.

One possibility is I have very little, if any, competition Friday. If I have the property solo Friday, OMG, it could be epic with neighboring properties being hunted heavy and patient old me saying, "come on into the sanctuary big fellas, come on in"

I wonder how many of us have thought that this season?

Yeah your season is going much like mine. It was a 10 yard give me shot. But when I got down, I didn't see all the tiny saplings trees she was standing in. Crazy how low light can hide so much. I could see her plan as day thru my peep, but didn't see any of those little trees.

App is sucking worse than ever. Now I have to figure out this tiny phone version of the website. I really need a new laptop. I think I may actually get to hunt Saturday and delay the 13 hour drive to NC till Sunday. Damn I need to kill this buck.

I’m up and ready for my last sit here in Illinois was a fun three weeks but there’s a time to come and a time to go. I’ll give it one more shot today before shot gun Friday and then it’s time to hit the road again back to NH and back to work.
