For those that enjoy watching YouTube hunts, check out my Illinois trip I just did. I just did daily update videos and talked a lot of strategy. I’m thru day 7, I’m trying to space out the videos but days 6-9 were awesome action. Good luck everyone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice video and lots of deer movement. Public land you say??? After a disappointing fall: no bow hunting invites, I have to get into the public land to scout and do it on my own. Good luck getting on a wall hanger Matt. Longdraw.
Yep. I always do public for my out of state hunts. There’s some great hunting to be had. The best advice I can give is spring scouting helps a lot just to eliminate areas, get familiar with different areas and such. Basically in the spring, I burn thru as much as possible. For the most part, areas go into two “piles” in my mind. Definite “No’s” and then “maybes”. Occasionally I’ll find one that I know is a definite keeper but that’s rare. It’s too hard to tell when you’re looking at a seasons worth of sign. When it comes time to hunt, cast a wide net early in the trip, hitting as many spots as possible and dig into the best area you find. I’ve had it happen where I dig into a spot a little too much, too soon and people move into that area. Then I’m left scrambling when I should be trying to kill. I love it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
