Spoke to the land manager of that one property to get access to the public land swamps. Seemed like a good guy but didnt give me access. Well today the original land manager gets in contact with me out of nowhere. He tells me he has a family farm and only one other guy hunts it. And he could give me access to it every now and then. I thanked him. I dont even know what to say. Pumped.

Thanks and no he doesn't like us bow hunters..lol I taught myself to bow hunt and our daughter and son. He was raised in a gun hunting family and I have our 73 acres the guys have the family hunting camp an hour and a half away, 63 acres that we now own. He's more into the whole deer hunting camp thing. Unfortunately no ones been to camp in two years thanks to school jobs. I'm about ready to tell him to quit. It's making both hubby ,son and daughter miserable. One won't go without the others..
Home my land my rules.. You never hit a stand without a safety harness, they won't wear them. Plus my stands are high and with out rails. No one likes hunting them.

Thanks everyone. It was a great morning.
I checked garden cam on way back from getting her. The " high " racked buck I spooked Saturday night on way home under garden stand.. The big 10... He was there 10 mins before close....I just may go out there tonight!
Reason I decided not to shoot second doe, looking for a buck now.
Got to run she was quartering slight forward to me and clipped guts on exit.. Seriously early morning and she was just stuffed full of greens and corn. Did a white vinegar rinse but want to get hide off and straps cut out.

    PS... She was in heat.

Congrats Mike/Teammate!! Wow, nice buck! You did your part for the team! Now I gotta do mine. I took off tomorrow and Wednesday to hunt. I haven't been out in over 2.5 weeks. Missed all of the rut so far. Hope there is still some chasing/rutting going on. Almost caught up on the thread. Only 16 more pages to go...

I loved hearing the story of his hunt he saw some bigger does but at a distance he was not comfortable, then as it was getting dark he regretted not taking a shot. He was wondering how much longer he was comfortable shooting because of fading daylight. He was resigned to well it was a learning experience his first season when the doe popped out. He said well I crossed that off now I want a buck. I have never enjoyed gutting a deer as much as I did that one.

If you are heading to Holland Bottoms WMA, they should chasing. I was gun hunting with my son Saturday on private land in Lonoke County just 20 miles south of there. Deer were all over, good luck!

Very slow morning, bumped deer on the way in , heard dogs running on the neighbor's property. Then saw 2 big white flags going across the top of a hill on our side of the line . Nothing else but squirrels. Out now not sure about an afternoon hunt .
