Nice buck BHU! And you beat the bone chilling, backside freezing cold! Was 8 this morning and 21 tomorrow morning. More nice weather on the way!
Thanks! Yes, but it was a mental wrestling match. My body wanted a warm fire and coffee, but my mind wanted to put something nice in the freezer. : ) Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
I missed a giant tonight. Too much to explain, but it went over his back and deflected the antlers. Is there hope? How much time, before I go back in and try again? Is he gone forever? I have feelers out on twitter for help, as well. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
He's still there, so there's hope. Bucks will generally stay in their home range. If you're in a fixed stand and we're winded, give it a few days or a good rain, if you have the opportunity, to clear away any lingering scent. If you were spotted, he may remember your stand location an be cautious, does seem to be worse. If you weren't winded, or spotted, you should be good to go, as soon as you are able.
Definitely not winded. He was looking my way, but he did not speed off, just bounded and hopped over the fence line he came from. The fence line is about 200+ yds from his bedding area. I might pick the right wind and move half way between his bedding area and the blind I missed him from on the field edge. That way if he is cautious and holds up due to light, I may get another shot at him. Thanks wl704! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well I picked the right stand this morning but he just came in a little too early. The time stamp isn't adjusted for day light savings, so it's really 5:46 am. I actually heard him trot off as I came into the woods. All I can say is I'm sick and dejected. Having said that he's been near this stand 3-4 times in the last week. Gotta love November. It’s a grind. I know how you feel. You will get it done. Perseverance! Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Perfect morning to be in the woods! It’s 38, no wind and a light rain last night not a lot of activity yet, but this little guy just strolled by.
He probably isn't far off then. Maybe you should wait for daylight to slip in so you don't bump him again. Give a rattling sequence or something after you get settled.
Another spike and a 125” 8pt just came through. Drew on the 8 but let him walk, know there’s better.bucks out here. Maybe in December.
Lots and lots of talk about this buck on here so I am going to bring up the fact that this team needs to help your member get an accurate score on this deer. Someone has to bring it to discussion out in the open rather than have lots of comments behind the scenes. We all know that this buck is much, much closer to 110 or 115 rather than 141. The mass measurements are well beyond believable and there appears to be an extra spread credit measurement? I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but it really is obvious on this one that to be true to ourselves and the contest, this buck needs to be accurately scored. Sorry to be "that guy", but I would rather call it what it is than have lots of backroom conversations going on about it.
No worries fletch920. I am fine with you bringing it up. We are not hiding anything. I am waiting on an independent scorer connected with the taxidermist to do it for me, so it is fair to the contest. He is just very busy this time of year, so I just have to wait. It is taking longer than I expected. I will put out the correction once I get it. I asked that he keep the sheet, so I can photograph it, as well. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well, 1st shotgun season starts in 30 minutes or so. Headed out to bowhunt in amongst the orange army. Wish me luck. Hope I don’t get shot!
Well had the 9 pt from last week at 35 yds. Standing in green briar with no damn shot. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
One coyote, one buck. Nothing else this morning. I grunt, snort wheezed. He heard both and had no interest. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Saw a 3.5-4.5 yr old this morning at 24 yds, not very big rack and only have one buck left this year. Probably regret it, but we will see what tomorrow brings. I really want a doe, but they have seemed to have disappeared on this property, very unusual. Saw 13 on first day last year. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
