Due to the tornado tearing my woods up, right now I only have one good stand location to hunt. I've been hunting it for 2 weeks now, and I've seen deer from it on almost every sit. My problem is today I have a bad wind direction for this location. It still being the rut (I saw chasing yesterday), would you hunt it anyway, or just stay out of the woods until the wind changes?

I tried it a couple weeks ago and while I did not get snorted at or directly located but the 2 does I saw clearly knew something was up. I slowly climbed down and ended my hunt. This was wearing fresh clean camo all gear and clothing ozone treated and scent free shower. You will never fool a deer's nose.

I would hold off. Don't ruin a great spot.

Depends on how much time you have.
If short on time, it's the time of the year too go for it. They can come from any direction.

Depends on the stand. For a stand that set in a location to intercept a crusing buck or along a edge in topography I have killed my best bucks with crosswinds.

Try hunting from the ground if possible in a different location.

Unless it was your last day of the season to hunt, definitely wait for a better wind. If you’ve been hunting that spot hard for 2 weeks the deer already might start to notice some residual scent in the area anyways. Best to wait for a good wind or at least cross wind. Unless time/work/etc dictates otherwise

Hold out for a better wind. All it takes is that one doe busting you and she'll hunt that stand every time she goes by it.

Sometimes you just have to hunt.. maybe your odds decrease some but if you have no other spots, I would have a hard time not being in the woods. One of my spots I can only hunt in a "bad" wind based on topography and available trees/cover.. its really the only time I see deer on that hillside. I try not to over hunt the spot and I mainly wait until the rut to hunt it but if I want to see deer, I have to hunt it in a "bad" wind. I have been successful there.. but I have also been blown at times.

I know this might be a little late but personally I would wait for a better wind. Unless it is the last day of the season, or the last opportunity to hunt that spot during the season I would stay out. Even during the rut you will never fool a mature buck's nose. That being said it is possible to get lucky during the rut which is quite a possibility, but the odds are usually not favorable. Hope that helps!
